Ozaki iCommand Controller bridges the iPod shuffle / headphone divide

We've seen USB adapters and chocolate-flavored cases, but we're guessing this is the iPod shuffle 3G accessory most folks have been waiting for: an adapter that'll finally let you use your headphones of choice with the diminutive player. While its glossy, seemingly plasticky finish doesn't quite match up with the shuffle itself, it looks Oazki's iCommand Controller will get the job done, with it packing some tiny volume controls on one side and play/pause/track controls on the other, plus that all important proprietary magic inside.. No word on a price just yet, unfortunately, but you can get a closer look at it courtesy of iLounge at the link below.

So it makes your iPod Shuffle longer than it already is and puts the controls in an inconvenient location.
Why didn't Apple use buttons again?
Because they are obviously inferior
You're just bitter because you're a walrus and we all know walruses do not have fingers.
:(
This is Apple's new model..
The next nano will be 1/2 as small but it will have no way of any input whatsoever... You have to listen to all tracks play through in 1 long stream...
To choose a track you have to purchase a memory addressing access module to tell it what location to start playing at.
Engadget will honor and feature it and you FAN BOYS will eat it up and say it is goodiva...
Now you pathetic iLoosers go on your iChat iCam and masterbate Steve J. likes to watch!!!!
AHAHAHAHAHAHAH!!!
@grull27: dude, they are trying to help (and make money).
When iPhone OS 3.0 hits and A2DP is on iphone... I'm only interested in what new stylish headphones/mic Apple invents for us to buy.
holy shit! an ipod shuffle 3G? i have to say...that's gonna be boss.
If you have to buy a complex solution to make a simple device workable then it's failed.
Exactly.
So much for all that ingenious and intuitive design; ugh.
i dunno man, looks like someone mcgiver'd a thumb drive and couple hearing aids and call it a day
Heh... yeah, pretty much.
If you have to add and add-on to use your own headphones you should of bought the Nano.
If you have to add AN add-on to use your own headphones you should HAVE bought A Nano.
Jeez, three grammar mistakes in one sentence.
Sorry I go to public schools. They should of learned me better.
Vote for Pedro.
Wow. This is the stupidest piece of crap for the stupidest crappiest mp3 player and yet Engadget talks about it like it's genious. How much does Apple pay you, Engadget?
The picture fails; a POS Shuffle with what looks to be a UE-10/UE-11 IEM?!
Well i dont care because i love Apple and they have invented the MP3 player that dont allow you to use your own headphones. Cant wait until they make an OS that only runs on their hardware!
Alter Bridge must also be like Crocs then...you have to suck if even Guitar Hero gives you the snub.
This just in!:
The price will be the cost of the Apple license, plus $10.
Go away, Apple. You're just like Crocs-- you suck.
Crocs are lovely when you have to be on your feet all day. All the nurses wear them at my hospital.
That sounds sanitary.
Imagine if these hoaxers sold more devices? I'm not putting another brick in their wall.
You! You behind the bedstead - stand still laddie!
...but which one failed?
mad mule, i too was wondering who the fuck was crazy enough to pair those amazing ultimate ears with a shuffle, why??? why??? why???
I'm still not going to pay extra to use my own phones.
So...why not just get the 2gig 2nd gen shuffle. Seriously, do you want to have more than 500 songs without a visual interface? Ugh, I hate the damn 3g shuffles.
If this was a microsoft product everyone would be dissing it .. but because its an Apple its called inovation! Im a big time Apple user, but Im not into that Fanboy frame of mind that has to believe everything the company produces is first class. In the case, this MP3 sucks and isnt it clear to Apple that if other people have to develop features that are standard on any MP3 player, and people buy it, its obvious theres a need ... so why not include it in the first place!!!
God help us if Apple start building TV's ... we'll need someone else to develope a remote so we can use the thing!!!
THOSE HEADPHONES WILL CRAWL INTO YOUR BRAIN AND CONTROL YOUR EVERY ACTION!
I'm still loving my $35 Sansa Clip with 4gb of memory and a screen.. oh and it has FM Radio too!
I've only used the FM radio 6-7 times while in the gym on the treadmill. (I usually run outside.. but on cold rainy nights.. its great at the gym to listen to the TV's on FM Stations)
I've always hated fanboys.. but honestly.. I've owned 3-4 mp3 players over the years (even tried to use my cell phones) but nothing compares to running with the CLIP. I clip it to my shorts.. Run the earphones under my shirt and I don't even know it's there. I don't know how much smaller people need things.
I love the mass storage (drag and drop songs) the standard Mini USB charger. The screen to see the songs/create playlists.
I couldn't imagine paying DOUBLE for the MP3 player and getting less of everything! No screen, no voice recording, no playlist creations, no fm radio, no interchangeable headphones without buying a lunky adapter.
I understand paying for smaller devices.. but I think that Apple got to the point to make it toooo small and drop the buttons. This reminds me of the mid 80's when those calculator watches..the buttons were the size of a pin head..they got WAY too small. Time to change tactics apple!
Are there really fanboys out there going "Oh I wish I could buy this piece of shit of a player... If ONLY THEY BOTHERED TO MAKE ACTUAL CONTROLS TO IT...."? I can't believe it. It's bad enough when you can't connect headphones directly to a phone, but it's supposed to be a fucking mp3-player?! Sigh @ apple.
