So if the Pre is lacking video recording, mass email deleting, and voice dialing, where is the yelling and screaming from the Apple-haters? These very features were viciously attacked since "my X phone from X years ago has that feature already" so therefore the iPhone sucks. But wait, apparently now it's OK to trade some features for an overall better phone? Shocking how that works out.
Let's not even get into no Apps (at launch) or poor battery life. I mean, Apple was slammed for not opening up the iPhone right away (hence all the jailbreaking). But now, the Pre is announced and it's only where the iPhone was over 2 years ago. Come on people. You wanna talk Kool-aid? Stop drinknig the Apple-hating Kool-aid for once.
saying "there are no apps" is total FUD. The Pre can run older Palm OS programs. Yes, that's not exactly the same thing but can your iPhone run an NES emulator? Didn't think so. No video on the Pre is a dumb move. The Treo 600 couldn't do video but that was years ago. Making too few phones available isn't too smart either, but maybe it won't matter when/if Verizon gets the Pre. That's what I'm waiting for, hopefully that'll actually happen. Again though, this idea that Apple invented the idea of a phone that can run programs is right up there with the Fox News notion of a liberal media. WRONG.
brettsinger- hah! I'm hardly spreading "FUD." There are something like a dozen apps available in the "app catalog." Congrats on your NES emulator, though. I'm sure it will sell a lot of phones
Nobody said Apple invented apps, my friend. Nice irrelevant politcal commentary, though.
My whole point is that the Pre is missing features the iPhone also lacks or lacked, and nobody is up in arms. Despite the fact the Pre comes out 2.5 years after the iPhone is announced. I'm just glad the haters finally realized that a tradeoff of a few individual features in exchange for a better overall phone is WORTH it. Agreed?
So true... I honestly don't get the hype about this phone. 8GB of storage=weak. Are there any games for it? Granted the iPhone will need the 3.0 OS to provide some of the "basic" features it should have had but that is in the past. Looking forward, it doesn't seem like Palm has come up with a product that is any farther ahead that iPhone already is. It just doesn't "wow" me.
Sony's just released a 15.5-inch addition to its VAIO S Series that not only adds a crucial bit of extra display acreage, but also bumps things up to a full 1080p.
