Verizon gets official with 3G BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230: $129.99 on June 19th
After months of leaks, Verizon Wireless is finally coming clean with its intent to carry the 3G-enabled BlackBerry Pearl Flip 8230. Said phone will arrive in silver on June 19th, bringing with it a 2 megapixel camera (with flash and video recording), a SureType QWERTY keyboard, microSD / SDHC slot and support for VZ Navigator. The pain? $129.99 after a $70 mail-in rebate and a new two-year agreement.

Quite possibly the ugliest blackberry ive ever seen....
even for a flip phone, that thing is hideous....
We had one of these on trial over here in the UK. I was like playing with a phone from the early 90's and build quality just doesn't feel good. Users compared it to a Fisher Price "My First Phone", thier quote, not mine.
Am I the only one who thinks this kinda looks like the sharp GX10?

NB: Americans/Canadians: This probably didn't make it to the states (You didn't miss anything btw :P )
I know several peple that forgo new phones and more features in order to keep a flip phonwe that they can jam in their pocket. This will sell imho.
Count me in on that. My flip goes in my pocket with my keys.
all i can hear is that annoying girl's voice from the commercial...
"it's a blackberry that flips CLOSED"
"cloused"
ugh, it just makes me nauseous...
Damn sounds like it's a good thing that I NEVER watch commercials.
My butt just hung up on you.
That commercial really works somehow.
The problem with that commercial is loss of continuity.
The Guy accidentally calls the girl (Pocket dialed)
Girl picks up her blackberry and shows off that his "Butt dialed" her and he should get one the new BB Flip
She then proceeds to close her BB (which should then hang up the "Butt Dialed" call)
She then continues talking and he bounces in his sit claiming his butt just hung up on her...
Yes I have seen this commercial too many times.
It's a metaphor. He isn't actually hanging up on a call, he's telling her to stop nagging him (via face-to-face conversation).
She may be annoying, but I'd tap her...
i like i like....i just need a real keyboard...and better browser
and a processor that doesn’t suck?
only 6 months behind t-mobile. verizon will always suck because they are the last to get any sort of decent phones.
Don't say "always" that's a curse that may come back to haunt you. Hell could freeze over you know.
Verizon is the best network in the states... at least that is my experience and what I tend to hear / read from other peoples experience.
Fugin Fugly.
rev A or just rev 0?
when live chatting with verizon reps I've gotten the following answers
"that is a tmobile phone & won't work on our network", Michael
"all our broadband phones are the same speed", Shannon
I'm done trying to ask them :)
does anyone know if it is rev A?
It's confirmed to be Rev. 0...
So in other words, really no better than the original Pearl...
Yeah, yeah, whatever. 9630?
Note to RIM: What does it take for you to come up with a new name for a device. This device isn't a blackberry at all. What a failure of a company. The real blackberry is even a POS. Oh, and I tried really hard not to bring this up, but "storm?" What a joke.
Should I feel bad saying that, that phone looks really ugly... I reminds me of the Atari Jaguar..Remember that controller??
Verizon with another shitty phone, who would have guessed? *roll eyes*
ME WANT TOUR
ME TALK INCOHERANT CAVEMAN LIKE TILL VERIZON GIVE TOUR
it might reduce "butt dialing", but it looks sooooo dated...f'ugly
Wow, you people really have no sense of taste, do you? This phone is gorgeous.
*awaits down-ranking*
Seems fine to me but then again why would someone buy a phone based on appearance? It resolves one big issue I have with my pearl (and most phones with email aspirations) - size. I had candy bar phones but as work requires a phone with email abilities that pretty much leaves me with a long list of craptastic phones (all blackberry models, palm's garbage, junk like the iPhone, etc). The Pearl has worked great for 2 years - with one exception being the breaksge prone trackball. Ideally with the new trackball inside the closed phone there's less chance of disrupting/hurting it.
Still curious why people care what a phone looks like. Functionality for your needs is all that matters, imho. Then again I feel the same way about car purchases - get the car you enjoy driving as the exterior is worthless. Looks on tools = something for poseurs to worry about.
phone looks way better in person
