Desperate for a Pre, woman uses car to create Sprint's first drive-thru store
NBC Chicago is reporting that an elderly woman who "apparently couldn't wait to get her Palm Pre" from a local Sprint store -- and yeah, we're pretty sure that's not the case -- decided to plow her car right through the entrance. Best of all, a security camera captured the whole incident. No one was hurt and the store will apparently be fixed in time for tomorrow's big day, so if that puts your mind at ease, head on over after the break to witness, and possibly enjoy, all the mayhem.

Im sad. The video wont load for me.
Without seeing it, I cant scream viral marketing in a conspiracy theory implying tone. This is a sad day.
that has to be the crappiest sprint store ever. Has it been there long? looked like temporary funiture and displays. Kinda like HR Blocks that pop up in strip malls all over the country right around tax season, then close down just after april
And they said Apple Fanboys were the worst.
Apparently you guys have reported the story incorrectly, here is the article:
Woman Uses Car To Prove Point During Pre Release
An elderly woman reporterdly used her car to crash through a Chicago Sprint store today after a bad experience with a new mobile phone device, the Palm Pre.
Mrs Sarah Bishop of DuPage County was excited about getting her new Palm Pre, a smart phone device she has been told would revolutionize her day-to-day life. "My nephew has been going on about it since the beginning of this year, so I was really looking forward to purchasing it," the seventy three year-old explained. Unfortunately her experience was not a good one. It started with a frustratingly hour-long process of activation and "how-to" tutorial, culminating in the keyboard portion of the phone coming apart, and slicing into her thumb. Bishop, who suffers from hemophilia, was in shock from the mishap and couldn't believe the reaction by staff. "Instead of looking for a bandage or something to stop me from bleeding, the Sprint representative was more interested in getting the keyboard slider attached back on the phone," she recounts in astonishment. "I mean, what the f**k was he thinking!" Bishop apologized for using fowl language, but explained that the experience had brought out the worst reaction in her. "I just wanted my money back, but they [Sprint] would not refund me," she continues.
By this time the elderly citizen had had enough. She left the store and promptly returned from the car park... in her car, ramming right through the front of the Sprint store. "It came down like a house of sticks," she remembers, "the build quality of their stores must match the damn ham slicer they sold me."
Bishop was later seen at a local Apple store, happy with the purchase of an iPhone 3G mobile device. When our reporter asked her what she though of the iPhone, Bishop explained: "It just works."
I'm so done after that!!!
That little article in the comments looks an awful lot like gizomodo penmanship.
Engadget, enough crap about the Palm Pre. seriously. its going to be a mediocre phone.
Except its actually pretty awesome
"Stop covering it! It's going to suck because I decided it's going to suck!"

I don't believe that woman is 73 AT ALL
Watch her as she gets out of the car. see how she adjusts her shirt..look at her clothes..look at the shape of her body for god sakes..
somethings fucked about this story..
I can smell the fucking idiocy in that!
"MAH PHONE DON'T WORK, IMMA KILL YOU ALL"
Also why the fucking hell did they let her go, in Denmark she would have been put in jail for a such thing.
sorry, hit the submit button twice ;-)
As staged as Bruno vs Eminem MTV stunt .. nice one Sprint
I love how nobody in the store dials 911 and nobody goes over to see if she is ok. Even though she gets out and seems ok. The stupid dumbass of a sales man appears to be fucking TEXTING someone. WTF? Not to mention the store looks so freaking small it's not even funny. Talk about claustrophobia.
those 2 guys working there are idiots, they're at a loss for what to do and just stand there, it looks like one guy is texting, probably telling all his friends, "whoa you won't believe it a car just drove into my store dude!"
he's even scratching his head like he has no idea what to do next, gah, humbug!
Ummm you sure as hell don't approach someone who just drove into your store. God know they might be disgruntled and have a gun or something. They probably called the police in the back and were texting their district manager or something, because god knows its SOOO easy to tell exactly what happened..... I love the arrogance of the people on Engadget. How they know everything. Hell how do you know if they aren't instructed to do nothing by store policy due to a lawsuit or something.
@John Doe.
+1
I couldn't have said it better myself.
In the article (from the link nbc news) it clearly states "they helped her out of the car" Wjat a load of BS they didnt even leave the front of the store! Is this just piss poor reporting or did the guy just lie? Either way the video shows the truth! Sorry but I think most peoples natural instinct (no matter what) would be to go over and help a possibly injured person or at the very least just go over and look.
HAHAHAHA crazy people these days!
Wow what gentlemen, watch and text.
Probably typing on her iPhone when she crashed.
Are Apple sending suicide bombers?
I wonder how the conversation went after she got out of the car.
Well, they were willing to waive the deductible on the Store Protection Plan, but they insisted on a new two-year contract.
>Woman
>Mercedes E-Class
Why am I not surprised?
She doesn't look old, just american.
Clearly there are several of us who think this was staged...hmm...
Ahahahaha! And you were all worried b/c there were no long lines. Now that's publicity.
Taking fanboyism (or fangirlism) to a whole new level.
Do those iPhone fans know no limits?
Worst flash video player ever.
She must've been using Sprint Navigation. That GPS lag is a killer!
It looks like she wanted to step on a break, but instead, stepped on the throttle.
Typical american, we've seen this too many times...
Kind of like the moron's in Europe who drive into water because their GPS told them to.
Touché
Bizarre!
She looks like a black women... and well.. they cant drive.
You can tell the driver mistaked the gas pedal for the break pedal...classic elderly mistake.
wow, sweet deal... i would left work. relax at home, for a couple days on sick leave. lol
and the 2 employees loook like your typical wtf do we do sprint employees.
we are scared, oh no
