PSP and 360 Chatpad hacked into laptop (albeit for very small laps)

We've seen our share of PSP mods in the past -- it sure seems like everyone has an opinion on how to improve the thing. Acidmods.com member Folklord36's innovation has been to place the device in a clamshell scrounged from a Joytech Visor. But the pièce de résistance? The working keyboard, which once belonged to an Xbox 360 Chatpad. This is a hack in progress, so we can expect to see this guy become even more refined in the near future. That said, there's been lots of work done here: speakers moved, LEDs installed in speaker holes and triggers, and of course the case itself. Kudos, our man. Kudos.

does it have two analog sticks?
$NE, this kind of mod is what people want, not psp go!
Add in some internal memory and I'm 100% sure this would sell a lot more than the PSP Go.
It still doesn't have a second flash card slot or high res touchscreen to match the OpenPandora
Yes, it does indeed appear to have two analog sticks, if you look on the right side, you'll see one, and on the left side, you'll see one without a cap. :D
This thing is a netbook for a midget. But a normal-sized netbook is really perfect for a midget. Average-sized humans should be looking for something bigger.
But this hack job is well done and I know the builder put a lot of time and effort into it.
coolest_mod_ever
Watch your back. Here comes a new Jack, Ben ;^)...
oogilay!
This is what the PSP Go could have been.
Sony, you should hire this guy.
WTF!!!!!!!!!!!
add a joystick and a 1.8" hdd spot instead of umd and im sold.
Thats like seeing your buddy going for a girl and then telling him she's trouble (or girl going for a troubled guy), and then they get married and have kids...And they have some pretty messed up kids....
yea your right..its just like that...
Digital1, you took the words right out of my mouth.
Kii...iii...i...lll..llll......meee....e..e....e.e...eee
THIS. This is the exact though that crossed my mind. Thank you super hobo. [i]thank you[\i].
I thought you were referring to the Towelie episode of South Park where they entered the DynaCorp lab and found the mutant towel all deformed and such... lol...
That was referring to Aliens:Resurrected.
So, same thing.
Despite how unrefined it looked, it still looks better than that PSPgo. If it can be polished up, and add a slightly bigger screen, it would be a fine design.
sweet. looks awesome. yea, if only sony made one, with a hd and 2 joysticks :(
Is that a second analog I see there????
Yes it's a dual nub
Very simple mod indeed
That's awesome work, needs a bit more sexy though. And less xbox...
it'll not fit in my pocket though.
First take out the Vaio P.
Some similar CaseMods was already made in the past. You can see a Video Demo of one of these on my Blog ( http://www.nowhereelse.fr/psp-laptop-clavier-casemod-20604/ )
Forgive me, but... That's the SAME casemod... Am I missing something?
@Nathan: I'm talking about the Video demonstrated one on my Blog, not the pictures... This one was made in mai 2008. You can also watch another one (really different) on YouTube : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4C3TPdZap0c
This is the second psp laptop folklord made
In fact, Folklord36 was the first guy to make a psp laptop with functional chatpad. He called this psp the PSP Laptop .5 since it's his second one.
The video you have on your blog is from his first one
@RoBot1ks: exactly, as i said in my first comment, "similar CaseMods was already made in the past". Thanx for your details :)
GREAT MOD! The guy should be a hardware developer for sony....... Although I bet the guys who are at sony came up with some sick stuff......
"Hey boss I have a design to have two analog sticks on our newest PSP"
"It'll cost more to add a program scheme to allow the old games to recognize the stick. Please dont bother me anymore with your silly business."
Awesomeness.
As unrefined as this may prototype may look, I prefer it than that ugly thing called "PSP Go." Maybe Sony ... nevermind.
Wow, cool but my mom would kill me for dismantling my PSP like that.
The modder should have painted the keyboard with the same finish as the PSP. But other than that, one word,"WOW".
from a quick look it seems like he might had rigged a second analog stick mapped to the d-pad (of course it wouldnt be truly analog, but it would have a better sensation than the d-pad for some games... mind you it would function as the d-pad does.... hmmm)... it also looks like he may have stuck in some bigger speakers (which would be great). Add in a ssd or harddrive, or some kind of storage instead of the UMD, then try to paint and clear coat the keyboard to match and you have a thing of weird beauty
I suppose he could have alternatively wired the second analog stick to the facebuttons... since some games use the face buttons for 3-d camera control... hmmm
are you talking to yourself?
The dual nub mod utilizes a nub control to function as the symbol buttons on the right side of the psp. Like you say, for some FPS games
And getting internal memory would be a snap
Use either photofast 5400 or 3100
Modder WIN!
sweet!! now it just need a touchpad :p
And still no second analog stick! Do people ever learn?!
YOW!
This was too epic to put in the bible.
...so they didn't.
How much does that weigh?
I'm guessing 10lb.
Not many people know plastic is made of lead.
it looks pretty naked, useful but how would you type a lot of the keys are too far too reach
That's not a black DS, that's 2 PSP's taped together!
Also, of note that it's an Xbox chat pad, and not the PS3 one.
they continued the project, check it out: http://href.hu/x/8eso
