Windows version of boxee open to all June 23rd
Drooling over boxee on other platforms but haven't been able to nab an invite to the Windows alpha? De-stress, CEO Avner Ronen announced the plan is to open things up starting June 23. Other things touched upon at the Connections digital entertainment conference Wednesday included his belief that TV is going the way of the internet and that tech giants need to just let it happen, and the company's potential to make money from its media streaming platform, possibly from content providers for pushing their shows, collecting a fee from for-pay add-ons in an application store, or licensing boxee to hardware makers. Don't worry too much about a money grab on the way anytime soon, with a zero-dollar revenue goal for the year. In the meantime, chill and check out a preview of the Windows version and an example of how it can work as a simple Windows Media Center plugin.[Via Download Squad]

Queen Boxee!?
"tech giants need to just let it happen"
With Hulu blocking Boxee, that's not a good sign.

Stoked. I'm an alpha tester for the Windows version, and I would love it if more people tried it out. This is a big step towards beta... or at least indefinite beta.
Yeah and Hulu released their own desktop App just so it can start charging users for some BS subscriptions. OTH, ISP providers wants to screw every dime from consumers for doing so. I see Hulu failing quiet soon.
I never stop getting my shows via the hidden closets of the intertubes. I just wished Boxee has lots of developers behind it that can hack the hell out of Hulu and make them give up just like Apple did with the street boys..
Whats boxee? I thought that was the android logo first time i saw it
no hulu, no boxee
First - Interactive Cable would be the END-OF-TV as we knowed it... next, Streaming Video would be the END-OF-TV as we knowed it, again... Proponents, get a life, the average TV user is stupid and does not want to fight any streaming/interface/interactive offerings: they want to sit in front of their (now flat) idiot boxes and channel surf to appease their short attention spa... uh, what were we discussing here?
Oh wow, Boxee wasn't on Windows until now? You poor, poor Windows users.
Isn't it just XBMC with a different skin and social networking features? I don't mix social networking with my TV and I like the skin I already have on XBMC so I'm just using that on my MacBook Pro. Any good reason to switch to Boxee?
Oh wow, you were forced to use Boxee to have a decent somewhat-non-controlling TV viewing experience on a device that was MADE exactly for that? You poor, poor Apple TV users.
They had hulu but then hulu removed support. Now it is basically XBMC with a couple of addons most people won't use. I tried it before and wasn't impressed with it. It was an early build but it just doesn't have anything really interesting regardless of stability over XBMC.
and chrome is available for Apple user
