What would you call this? A "fleet" of MacBook Pros? A "catch?" A "murder," perhaps? In any case, Apple just dropped off the entire line -- including the
newly-status-bumped 13-inch MacBook Pro -- at Engadget HQ, and while we'll have some in-depth impressions and benchmarks soon, we thought we'd throw up the unboxings and family photos for you right away. We're sort of struck by how amazingly similar these are in person, but we're eager to see how the internals stack up -- and whether that integrated NVIDIA GeForce 9400M in the 13-inch can handle a professional workload. Anything else you want to know?
Update: We just noticed that the 13-inch has
lost its dedicated audio input jack, we're guessing because of space constraints with the addition of SD and FireWire 800 -- but we're told the new single jack supports both input and output. We're testing it out, we'll let you know.

When Apple announced that they would carry a 13" Pro I though this meant it would include the 9600GT alas it only has the 9400M just like the original 13" (non pro version). Aside from screen size, the beefy vid card was what distinguished a Pro from Non-Pro but now I'm confused.
To make matters worse, the low end 15" MBP doesn't even have a 9600GT. So you either get the 15" MBP WITH discrete graphics, or the 15" MBP without discrete graphics.
Talk about muddying the terms.
Could you provide feedback on whether the 15" MBP's hinge is tighter? I noticed that all the other MB/MBP except for the 15" has nice tight hinges that allows you to lay in bed and type without fear of the screen closing down on you. If you could get the new 15" MBP and give feedback on this specific issue, it would be awesome!
Thanks,

I had hopes of upgrading my 2 yr. old MBP but once I read that they moved this line to the internal battery I've decided I'm out of the market. I hate this new trend, why on earth they're forcing this down our throats I'll never know & I refuse to accept it. Apples move to Internal batteries, no netbook, no mid-size tower & slow internal hardware upgrades is getting a bit much. Like Nascar, the long time Apple supporters are starting to feel they're being ignored & left behind.
No, it's just you.
I want to know which one of these MBP's has the best right click...
They all have "right click" -- it's called a notebook mouse or "ctrl" click will bring up a content menu.
Two finger tap or click on the bottom right portion of the trackpad (configurable in the system preferences).
You can set the trackpad to identify a Two finger click as a right mouse button.
Can anyone give me a (a total mac newbie) a rundown of the relative pros and cons of the white macbook and the new 13" pro? I'm not too sure how much difference there is to justify the extra price!
cheers
If you have a lock in the lock slot does it interfere with loading and unloading DVDs?
These mbps are all SATA I.
1.5 Gigabit transfer.
Those with SSDs will be screwed.
'Cause it's Mike's Super Short Show!
...I'm sorry.
Ignore me, I fail.
