Casio EXILIM now available on Verizon, water resistance no extra charge
Long rumored as the C721, Casio's pivoting EXILIM clamshell is now available to all comers on Verizon. Though the camera goes way up to 5.1 megapixels with autofocus, image stabilization, and a 3x optical zoom, the phone doesn't stray too far from its G'zOne roots -- it's mil-spec 810F compliant for dust, shock, temperature, and water resistance. It also features expandability up to 8GB (something you'll likely need if you're taking advantage of that cam) and compatibility with Verizon's VZ Navigator service. If you really need to be taking pictures in the shower, the pleasure's going to cost you: expect to pay $279.99 on contract after rebate.

way too expensive
Holy crap, all sounded good until I got to the price
$99 on contract and I think alot of people would really consider it. Either way, I don't use Verizon so it doesn't matter too much to me.
Really? Seeing as it's a Verizon product, I was expecting the water resistance to cost $15/month.
lol that wouldn't surprise me, but I wouldn't be surprised if they try to sell you a water protection plan on it.
Seeing how it's Verizon, I wouldn't be surprised if there was an artificial cap on half the specs. Camera is only 3.2 unless you pay $10 to unlock it. Memory slot filled with cement until you pay extra to open it. Images don't actually save unless you order their max plan.
Neat though, the water/dustresistance, let's hope the other manufacturers start doing that more and more
no camera flash?
I'm in.
ok so verizon gets another phone that sucks...i want a nice android phone on verizon.
Somebody at Big Red hit this thing with the ugly stick.
No QWERTY?!?!?! Sucks!
No, someone beat it with the CDMA stick and it came out looking like every verizon phone a year and a half ago until they realized people wanted more, then they "upgraded" all the phones with their shitty VZW Menu system. I had the last Nokia verizon couldn't break (full bluetooth, tethering, etc) when they were in full lockdown mode. Then I switched to Unicel and now they are owned by AT&T. My Touch Pro does more than I could imagine, and does it in amazing HTC style. Even the CDMA touch pros are crippled, down to the processor being different. Ugh, sorry for the rant, but it pains me to see phone manufacturers makinf phones for Verizon. If they would just stop, they could put VZW out of business in a few years. Even if they cut VZWs legs out from underneath it...
+1 for a nice android phone
Honestly, why oh why is it so hard to make a rugged phone with a decent OS? Rugged hardware is a friggin' godsend once you realize what it allows you to do with your machines but I'll keep babying my silicon if I have to in order to get a usable experience...
Anything become ugly when it enters the states.
Say most Nokia devices.
As always, Japan had it before us. Check out Softbank's site and you'll see beautiful waterproof phones with better specs and aren't as butt ugly as this shiyat.
