Best Buy has had the Snap for like a week almost
The exclaim just came in today...not impressed with the exclaim
but what are ya gonna do??
I cant say I'll be camping out to get either. Both seem cool in their own ways but I don't think any of them is going to steal my heart.
I don't like that the Snap doesn't have a touchscreen. I know its almost like the blackberries which also don't have touchscreens. But at $149 this thing should have one. Cus if I could pay $50 more and get a Treo Pro and get a touchscreen I would just do that. Yet alone how a month or two back you could get the 800w on sprint for $99 after rebate...Snap isn't such a steal.
The Exclaim seems interesting because I had a Rant for a little while and one of the two things that killed me with it was the low res screen. The Exclaim fixes that, so using Opera Mini on it wont be so bad. The other thing that drove me nuts with the Rant was the rubbery skinned yet hollow keyboard buttons. You could feel the skin on the buttons were over a firm plastic post. Which meant that if there is a plastic post you're pushing long keys like the space bar don't want to push if you don't hit them over that plastic key. So I would miss the space bar all the time with my left thumb while texting. The Exclaim seems to fix that by having solid plastic buttons.
I'll look into them, who knows how well I'll like em. Right now I'm using my wifes old Centro after returning a S30 and a Rant. My wifes Pre is looking awfully tempting tho. I didn't think I would like the Pre as much as I do. After spending 30 mins playing with it yesterday it seems like a well built OS.
FYI, Radio Shack has the Treo 800W for $29.99 in store on an upgrade if you can find it in stock.
Ya my local Best Buy has had the Snap in stock for at least 2 weeks now.. I played with it a while ago.. I decided against it because of WiFi though.
So what is it S551 or S511?
Interesting, could it be that Sprint is showing signs of "getting it" in terms of having a decent device lineup? First the Pre and then this, sounds like some other cool HTCs may be on the way as well...The old HTC Excalibur, the spritual predecessor of the Snap, was a decent enough phone for what it was. The Snap, at least the display models that I fondled at CTIA, is looking very cool. Yeah, no touchscreen but a solid WinMo business machine with a cool look to it. Anyone know if this is out yet with NAM GSM 3G?
Work for Radioshack and yep we just got in a shipment of Exclaims. No Snap here though. One thing I noticed about the Exclaim is that its HUGE when slid up...a solid inch longer than my Pre. And its thick too...oh well, guess it comes with the form factor
With the flurry of new high-end windows mobile phones coming out this summer it is hard to stay focused on any one phone and trying to pick up is getting more difficult all the time.
I don't get why Sprint had to change the design of the Snap. The HTC Snap that's shown on HTC's web site (http://www.htc.com/www/product/snap/overview.html) is cool looking: sleek, sophisticated, etc. The one that Sprint put out looks clunky and cheap, like a Moto Q9C hack. Why would they change the design?
