Life-sized Gundam complete and no, you can't borrow it

In the Universal Century, we suppose this sort of thing will be rather blasé. But until then, there's really no better way to get our geek hearts a-flutter than some up close and personal pics of this 1:1 scale model of the classic RX-78-2 Gundam mecha, built to commemorate the 30th anniversary of the franchise. We've been watching the construction of this thing rather closely and we're proud to announce that the finished product is every bit as badass as we'd hoped. If you're not planning on making the trip to Tokyo any time soon, feel free to take a gander at the thing in the gallery below. And our thanks to blogger Punynari for the awesome pics!

Dibs
He's got a clock in his crotch lawl.
Does it light up during night? That would be cool.
so much better than the statue of liberty.
Japan should give us a one for a gift
and we could give that other thing back to france
Now that Japan has Gundam,
I think North Korea won't even think of testing a missile and launching it over Japan again.
o that show was awesome
I want to take it home! That's awesome why can't they do this here.
wheres my optimus prime statue?
that's coooooooollll :-O
I know this guy who took the picture. I read this blog all the time and its weird to see someone you know on it.
Does anyone know where this guy is in Tokyo? I'm here for the next few days and would love to check it out.
BRB! Just going to get my plane ticket, don't be suprised to see someone have sex with its leg like an over-excited dog.
I bet it actually moves around and stuff.
+ 1 if it's oriented to face North Korea.
Having available time, resources, and ability to do some of life's important work, this project is instead a big toy - useless.
I'm just waiting for Japan to turn this badd boy on and start it's world domination.
Doesnt life size usually mean something has to be existing in real life. If I said I have a life sized suffed animal that means its the size of that real animal. Theres no such thing as a Gundam in real life so how can you call this life size? Stop wasting your time and knowledge on stupid crap like this and build something useful.
Well what is it supposed to be then, fantasy size? That is how a life sized Gundam would look if Gundams were real. Get your head out your ass and lighten up.
You'd think that this would discourage North Korea, but perhaps you didn't read this article....

So which branch of Japanese government is going to turn this into a full-fledged MS? Department of Defense, or Agriculture? XD
Only in Japan.... unfortunately : (
Hi, I'm japanese and posting from Japan. I hope you guys enjoy the video for construction!

the next thing now is to make that thing move...
What Chicago did with the whole cow statue thing Tokyo should do with Gundams. I want to see a bunch of Gundams and Zakus popping up all over the city. Maybe not life sized, but I demand to see that. I also demand to see working ones in the future. That would be amazing.
Holly Crap! I wanted one like these when I was 3rd grader!!! now feels like my old school dream has refreshened!! I don't care if it was gundamn or a transformer or whatever if that thing moves I'd dance in front of him and see if he can hit me, hehe!! DUMP HUGE
they should build an optimus prime in manhattan.
