RoBe:Do's newest 'just add netbook' robot kit for sale

Looks like the RoBe:Do gang, who recently blew our minds (well, filled our tummies) with their Twitteriffic Popcorn Poppin' Bot, are back on the scene with another one of those modular robot chassis designed for those of you looking to get into the robot game with nothing more than a spare netbook, some serious programming chops, and a few hundred bucks burning a hole in your pocket. The newest creature, named "Three," features a simplified design, faster motors, and a larger base for those six-plus-pound laptops of yours. Just dig into the supplied high level software libraries and code yourself a robot! And if you're feeling frisky, check out the various options -- including infrared sensor and webcam. Order now and it's yours for $399, or hold off until July 1st and pay the full $439. Peep the gallery below for a closer look.

Sort of like that XKCD comic a while back
Is that a segway for a netbook, for a netbook for a segway? O.o
Oh look, he's making friends with the roomba!

That bit about life imitates art? Well, now we have life imitating xkcd
Russlar: What? xkcd IS art.
but it's not built into a hamster ball. That makes it totally different.
On the other hand, this is exactly like the Evolution Robotics ER-1 from 5-6 years back. Trouble was notebooks were still too big and not quite powerful enough... and things like WiFi, webcams, mics were not "built in" like they are now. Today's netbook is all the things PCs then were and 1/3 the size weight.
that is just pathetic..
I always though robots to have limbs..oh my..
It's not nearly as cool as the XKCD eee pc hamster ball.
NICE!
Always cool to see new robotics hobby stuff here.
now even our netbooks need segways?
Dumb.
Nachooooo
Thanks!
Practical use of netbooks?
What is the purpose of this device? You still have to get down to the floor to get it.
it'll fuck up my netbook
Yeah, what happens when you drive it off a table...
Nice- HPI Baja 5b wheels and tires.
