Sonoro Eklipse clock radio / iPod dock gets official, priced
This one's been making the rounds in Europe for some time now, and finally passed through the FCC late last year, but it looks like Sonoro's Eklipse iPod dock / CD player / clock radio has only just recently gotten fully official in the US, and given a price. Unfortunately, while it has dropped a bit compared to the Euro conversion, it is still a fairly hefty $550, which will buy you 7.5W of power output, a nice little OLED display, a compact remote, and an auxiliary jack in case the iPod dock and slot-load CD player aren't enough options for you. There's still no official word on a release date, however, but it looks like at least one retailer is now taking pre-orders for it.

More like overpriced amirite?
waffles plus citizen cope at 4am = amazing.
this shit is overpriced.
It all depends how much you are willing to pay for the design. Specwise this is just like a lot of hardware the ussual but then it looks rather sleek though the iPod stand makes me wonder how they finnish off the top. I do like the more retro version a bit more though with the wood cladding but then.. just as most here I'm just as little willing to pay that much for a bit of design.
you could get a pretty badass sound system for $550
:S
nice dock, powerfull and elegant
"Badass"? You must mean "bad" + "assinine"...where's the speaker? Take a look... did you find it? It's that single little 2 1/2" after thought up on top. My daughter has a Hello Kitty iPod dock with 2 2 1/2" speakers!
I wouldn't call that good design or even a good sound system, they don't seem to care about sound quality...
That display looks mighty familiar......http://www.engadget.com/2006/11/23/xtrememacs-luna-ipod-alarm-dock-a-better-mouse-trap/

Why create something that beautiful and expensive and then put an analog radio into it? Something this high end really should have an HD radio tuner built in.
Who listens to ANY kind of terrestrial radio these days? Rather than have a radio, it should be able to stream internet radio.
That glowing dial will be very annoying while you try to sleep. The Vers 1.5 is much nicer at 1/2 the price (though its missing the CD player).
Doesn't really seem like anything great for $550.
@ydb
Its almost as if you're deliberately describing exactly what you're doing.
I like the display
No HD Radio? For that kind of money that's a major oversight. For a lot more info on HD radio and a great selection of HD radio receivers, HD radio tuners, and home audio go to http://www.hdradiotuner.org
