Hillcrest Labs Loop combines Wiimote, mouse, and Ouroboros
Hillcrest Labs has taken a few moments away from its bitter patent dispute with Nintendo to finally release its $99 Loop controller, a Freespace mouse intended primarily for use by those with some sort of HTPC setup. It's the latest in bangle-inspired design, sporting four buttons and a scroll wheel, compatibility with Windows, Mac, and Linux operating systems, and lacking any sort of chunky sensor bars or the like, detecting hand movements to glide the cursor across the screen. We hear it also makes a great accessory for geek-chic parties.

Now that's what I'm talking about :D
Would love to play COD:MW2 with that one. It's also exactly what Natal needs to complement its full body "controller" system.
Yeah Maybe Microsoft will buy them out rename it and call it there own "WONDERFUL Technology" and not not give any credit to the real makers, too haha >_>

Scroll wheels are awesome on anything.
It says specifically these are not for gaming. It's a mouse replacement like gyration sold 8 years ago for $100. Logitech owns them now and they have the MX air mouse which is very similar.
I have one of those Gyration mice. (And a keyboard to go with it) it works great! And there is NO sesnor bar. Just a USB Flashdrive sized RF reciever.
I thought I read somewhere that Nintendo got the motion sensing techonology from Gyration.
Ouroboros-mouse is Strider Hiryu approved. Giant, sickle-wielding Politburo dragon/centipede is not pleased.
I didn't even click on Reply.
dont you love this comment system?
holy crap they referenced Strider Hiryu
Finally an open platform for developing motion enabled apps with!!! I've got one. Love it. I'm now using it on my AppleTV using the latest ATVFlash rev....this is what Steve Jobs should be doing with the AppleTV, I just need to order another in White on Amazon and it will look like ole Stevie planned it from the start. I'm expecting ATVFlash to do more with this and with other programs. The AppleTV stuff is cool, needs some tweaks. I'm tinkering with some other cool stuff in other programs too. At $99, this is a no-brainer....
Wow!...So you're that guy who actually bought an AppleTV.
I just use my wiimote connected to my 1000he via bluetooth. But extra accuracy without the need for line-of-sight is nice, I guess.
There's no comparing the two. I've got both and worked to try to use the Wii for this stuff, and even with the new improvements, I found the accuracy lacking for real precision stuff. I can be really lazy and lying down in bed and using the Loop, and it senses the right axes and everything. Very impressed with it as a technology. The Wii really does not compare. What I'd like to see is someone take the Loop technology and stuff it into a controller. That's what makes sense to me because then you have the motion sensing AND gaming control, without line of sight.
How do you see you TV without a line of sight.... Not only that but isnt the WiiMotion + exactly what you asking for?
That thing better have a particle collider in there... it's huge. ;)
