Mintpass launches English Mintpad website, sign of things to come?

Well, there's not exactly a whole lot to go on with this one, but Mintpass looks to have just recently launched an English version of its Mintpad website, which could well be yet another a sign that the MID / PMP is finally nearing a release outside of South Korea. Of course, that's still not quite a sure thing, especially since the previously rumored April / May release date has now come and gone, and there's unfortunately not so much as a price on the website to further back things up. There are plenty of specs, however, including the same 400MHz ARM processor, 128MB of RAM, 4GB of storage, and built-in WiFi as before, plus no shortage of pics in case you've yet to get an up close look at the device.

It'd look better in black.
va jj @ Jun 15th 2009 3:22PM
racist...
KezMondo @ Jun 15th 2009 3:23PM
I'm pretty sure that's the opposite of racist.
ilh @ Jun 15th 2009 3:43PM
So you're saying you cannot be racist if it's against whites?
KezMondo @ Jun 15th 2009 3:47PM
Not particular, I don't remember a time where white people were made to sit away from a different, more 'superior' race on the bus purely because of the colour of their skin. If white people got offended by it, then I'd probably agree with you, in the same way that I'd agree that calling a black person a racist name would cause them to be offended and more than likely provoke violence.
rik @ Jun 15th 2009 3:51PM
racism goes all ways, it is not a term used to describe hatred to a single race
CtrlBurn @ Jun 15th 2009 3:52PM
racism
1. The belief that each race has distinct and intrinsic attributes.
2. The belief that one race is superior to all others.
3. Prejudice or discrimination based upon race.
From Wiktionary. As far as the joke is concerned, it is racist to say it would look better in black, but since race can't be attributed to PMPs, it isn't technically racism.
KezMondo @ Jun 15th 2009 3:53PM
It's a bloody personal assistant anyway, it's not a white supremacist device.
Col. Readily Apparent Upon Cursory Inspection @ Jun 15th 2009 7:52PM
Wow, I can't believe this developed into an argument. Just a little ridiculous. It's a damn PMP.
As a side note, yes racism does go all ways. Try being the only white kid a majority black high school and see how long it takes you views to change on who can be racist...

rodney.ha @ Jun 15th 2009 3:44PM
Wow, I've never heard of the Mintpad. If I had one I'd probably just keep it in the dock near my bed and use it as a clock/calender, and to check emails before bed.
Eyhk @ Jun 15th 2009 4:24PM
The minimalistic design is kinda catchy, I agree that I'd like to have one docked on the night stand instead of my ugly Sony alarm clock.
Alan Partridge @ Jun 15th 2009 6:01PM
The Mint people are design geniuses, check out the mint phone

Reminds me of a Cowon O2. Except that the O2 goes up to 32GB, has an SDHC slot, and supports all the codecs you could think of.
mystic @ Jun 15th 2009 7:41PM
The Mintpad has an sdhc slot stated on mintpass.com's tech specs. The slot is hidden inside the battery compartment as seen in review videos.

When will Asian web designers realize that default Asian webfont looks terrible with roman characters, and, that poorly written English discredits the product from the get go (in an advertising sense).
UTF-8 + Grammar Check FTW :)
Regardless it looks like a nice little box...though i thought the PDA market dried up awhile ago...
dan2600 @ Jun 15th 2009 6:02PM
before i get flamed, I am referring to the euc-kr character set...I think it is ugly.
hm @ Jun 15th 2009 6:43PM
@dan can you tell me where i can find the 'default asian webfont' in the euc-kr (??) character set.. id like to see it but cant find it:)

Jason @ Jun 16th 2009 11:53AM
I spoke with one of the customer reps - gonna buy an English model before they ship 'em all Stateside. I was quoted
$169 + S&H and that the full updated firmware would be available June 30th - which is when I expect it'll launch in the 'States. I'm gonna pick it up next Wednesday and I'll see if I can post some pics/details.
Jake @ Jun 16th 2009 1:52PM
Does anybody else think this little device is tempting? I know there's like a hundred PMPs out there that do somewhat the same thing, but it just seems like a cool little pocketable tool to keep your schedule/memos on.
Guess I'm just a bit enamored with the whole PDA generation. I love little devices like this that you can buy and use without signing a 2-year contract.
