SNES PC Case Mod scores endless style wins; can never bring back your childhood
Face it, not all mods are created equal. Take this SNES PC Case Mod, for instance, built by quangDX and DuPPs (their real names? we think not). Sure, they could've just crammed some PC guts in there and called it a day, but with love, care and some Lego spacers, they've crafted a true piece of art. The gutted Super Mario World cartridge acts as a slot-loading CD drive, there's a perfect lineup of connectivity in the back, and the real piece of magic: USB extenders disguised as regular controller plugs, and a reworked SNES controller to plug into 'em. The main guts are courtesy of an Acer Aspire One, and even the webcam and mic have been crammed into the front of that poor shredded cartridge. This is how it's done, folks.

That's pretty sweet. Now they just need to install an emulator and you've got what the SNES would've been had it been introduced in 2009.
This is EPIC!
Damn.
how are you gentlemen
All your base are belong to us!
Windows XP, SNES, APPLE KEYBOARD??!
This is blasphemy!!!
The Apple keyboard is really a pretty good match for the European SNES/Super Famicom.
They should have put a mouse into the Super NES mouse, though.
this
is
SPARTA!!!
It looks like an Apple keyboard, but the return/enter key looks funky...
Josh, that's an Apple keyboard with an UK layout.
you gotta love that "Num Lock" key on the apple keyboard ...
The superior layout! No tiny return key for me.
Just throw in a Sony PS controller for the emulator and you've got one fully schizophrenic yet awesome case mod!
I wonder what would happen if I push the 'eject' button...
Oops... that's what happens when you comment without clicking the Read link...
The eject button actually ejects the optical disks...
(but it would be really funny if the whole cartridge jumped in the air)
The UK version looks way different than the one we had.
Correction: the version the US had looked way different to the version that the rest of the world got. Why Nintendo decided to base the US version on a breeze block with some purple buttons is something that I never understood but I suspect some sort of narcotic may have been involved.

So? It still looks different. I didn't say the UK got it's own version. I stated it was different than the NA version. No correction was necessary. It is different. All you've done is say what I said, in other words.
LOL looks like your fans are a simple as you.
Oh, and correction Digidouche... It was not just the "US", as you say. Canada got them too. Smart ass.
where's the mario paint mouse?
I've ordered a Mario Paint mouse from eBay,
and will attempt to mod it so it becomes a normal USB mouse.
@Quang
Dude, that is one fantastic mod. Well done.
I feel I must point out, as far as I can tell, they used MegaBlocks, rather than LEGO bricks.
actually it is lego,
i bought a tonne of it on ebay for this and future products.
UK, super nes looked like the super famicom in Japan.
does blowing on the cartridge fix the blue screen of death?
i lol'd
They should have added an internal wireless USB adapter for the keyboard and mouse and then an internal Wifi card. Then you have only two plugs in the back: power and monitor.
i've actually installed a bluetooth adapter,
so you can use a bluetooth mouse and keyboard, as well as other bluetooth devices.
when i put the video up, you'll see me using a bluetooth logitech dinovo mini keyboard/trackpad.
That's just sweet
Poor SNES...
"Fierce"? You've been watching too much Tyra.
Doesn't look like my old SNES...
it was built with a UK SNES,
which is based on the original Japanese SNES.
the American one is very different looking.
My SNES looks different than that one. Is that a JDM one?
Its the UK one
so much win...
Adding a white light would NOT make it look classy.
Bah the UK SNES is super ugly.
hm, no the uk one is way better. I never saw the US one before now. UK one is more 'IT'
Do want.
I bet this was a lot of work I can't imagine how hard this was to complete
Yea it was probably at least a level 7.
