The iPhone Dev-Team (no relation) have been teasing us for a little bit now with what they've been saying is an iPhone OS 3.0-compatible version of
yellowsn0w, and tonight in a video presentation they unveiled ultrasn0w, which should let you unlock any iPhone on the market, running any version of the firmware from 3.0 on down. The trick to how they're getting the jailbreak hasn't been revealed yet for fear of Apple making a fix at the eleventh hour, but if everything goes according to plan, the new hacking software should be out Friday in time for the iPhone 3G S (no guarantee it'll work on the new device). Hit up the read link to watch the magic happen right before your very own eyes.
Where is quickpwn for 3.0 ?
So there is not a jailbreak yet from the dev team? Reading the post on their sites and from other users it seems like their is.

The jailbreak of course continues to work on 3.0 for all devices it ever worked on, thanks due the Pwnage 2.0 technique released last summer.
Now does this mean that my current jailbreak works with the update? It seems like it does but i don't want to risk it.
I'm a little confused. So if anyone knows please pass on info. In a nice way. No douches. I am on 2.30.03 fw 2.2.1 (5h11) Itunes 8.1.1.1
Thanks in advance.
EULA is not a contract, neither a legal tools for force customer to do some task.
I can publish a free aplication with the next EULA:
"..... and you agree to give me your car/house/soul."
And the second problem of the EULA is who "signed" it. For example, if i buy a iphone then later i give it to another person, then this second person may be can't have a clue about the EULA, neither he signed/clicked/saw the damn EULA.
hey...will there be an unlock/activation for iPhone 2G? or is it only for 3G and 3GS?
No, they won't.
I have a contract-free 3G iPhone (early termination paid). After finding AT&T unwilling to sell me service during my recent trip to China (but having upgraded to the latest baseband at the time), I asked AT&T and Apple in writing to unlock my phone.
By refusing to do so, they waived any ability to enforce the terms and conditions of their various agreements which prevent reverse engineering, hacking, and disassembling. Further, they extended the waiver to anyone who assists me in unlocking my phone, and agreed to indemnify myself and those who help me in any litigation surrounding the unlocking.
I've already extended the waiver to the Dev Team. They are, after all, the people working hardest to make my phone usable.
Hackers are still hackers
Nice, I can hardly wait. I havent updated to 3.0 yeat because with my jail borken 3G running version 2 I can tether my laptop! Way to go Dev team!

Looks like it's not going to be completely ready by tomorrow. This is from the devteam blog:
We have two issues that we’ve been trying to resolve:
1. There are new 3.0 complications with YouTube.app if you’re on a hacktivated (unofficially activated) device
2. There’s a bug in Apple’s new version of asr that our custom IPSW’s are tickling and causing crashes on, on some devices. (For the nerdy or curious among us, the details of that bug were tweeted by planetbeing a month ago.)
* As of Thursday morning we now have a workaround for #2. For #1, we’ll try our best to get it fixed but we may end up releasing a preliminary jailbreak in which YouTube doesn’t work for hacktivated devices, and then follow that up with a more complete jailbreak when we can.
it is a amazing job...We are waiting for the new software :)
DEV-Team always do some breakthough job :)
We wish the Ultrasn0w can be released ASAP,for 2.2.1 firmware(02.30.03 baseband),there is no work come out.Now it is time :)

So.. I am buying a used 3G iphone that has upgraded to os 3.0, but the guy im buying it from says he cant unlock it yet because the unlock software hasnt been released yet. I heard it would be released on friday, but he says otherwise. Can anyone tell me if this is true?
True :(
So then when WILL it be released??
SO DID ANYONE HERE REALIZE THAT THIS ULTRASNOW IS CAPABLE OF UNLOCKING THE 3GS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! woooooooooooooooooooohoooooooooooooooooo
So, here's the deal: The monopoly on the iPhone needs to be broken. Why should people pay more for at&t services on the iPhone than they do for the same service on Blackberry? YES, you got it... the iPhone forced plan is higher priced than equivalent service on iPhone. It's a sham and at&t should be reprimanded. I think it's high time that someone put some regulations on the runaway mobile phone industry. They obviously can't manage it themselves without long term forced contracts that are one sided in favor of the carrier. The consumer is getting reamed!
