Right on schedule, iPhone OS 3.0 is now available. Mash the update button in iTunes -- you need 8.2 -- and then check out our extensive iPhone 3G S review and iPhone OS 3.0 hub for all the nitty-gritty while you wait.
Since you waited so long, you deserve to be told a joke. Zoro was walking down some street and saw a hot chick walking toward him. To impress her, he took out his sword and scratched an awesome Z on the brick wall to which the chick said "Wow, Zuperman!"
Actually, not "Finally". Started upgrading around 11:15, 30 minutes later it finished updating and gave an error saying "We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occured (-4). This was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later."
Looks like I will have a brick once again after updating because the Apple servers cannot handle the load. Hope I will not have an 8 hour wait like I did after updating to 2.2.
I got the same error "We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occured (-4). This was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later"
Same here. Got it downloaded, but once it extracts iTunes tells me it can't contact the activation servers and I have to try back later. Gimme my update, dammit!
"Yes, Finally! Apple added Copy/Paste ! After 2 years of the first iPhone !" So you want to tell me the first or second Nokia/Samsung/LG invented had copy paste?
"I got the same error "We could not complete your iTunes Store Request. An unknown error occured (-4). This was an error in the iTunes store. Please try again later"
My phone is a brick now. What to do now?"
You just can't make some people happy, you get a free iBrick phone app and all you can do is complain about it.
This is why "Activation" should be limited CDMA phones or sim cards for network setup activation. Phones should never need "Activation" just to work after an update.
I have the 3.0 GM release also. I don't think we need to update, it's the exact same build number. Itunes won't recognize an update is needed since there is no software newer than what you are using.

Then install Windows 3.1 on your iPhone. Do you need a copy of Bootcamp?
Sublime @ Jun 17th 2009 3:08PM
@ darkstar
Yes, now go away and to sleep.
Every version of Windows Mobile I have used/tried royally sucked, at least to me.

Only now, do I finally understand the rage Goku felt, after Freiza killed poor Krillin on Namek.
I wonder when I will be un-bricked?

Matt @ Jun 17th 2009 6:59PM
It took me like 20 tries, but it finally worked. Hang in there man...
Something I noticed, but didn't see in any reviews is repeat alerts for text messages. I've been needing that! WOO!
JB @ Jun 17th 2009 7:16PM
@matt
repeating text alerts came in last year with OS2.0
Rob b @ Jun 17th 2009 1:22PM
Like the Maury show, 3.0 changed my life!
autoprime @ Jun 17th 2009 1:21PM

Filip @ Jun 17th 2009 1:21PM

General_Trelane, (retired) @ Jun 17th 2009 1:42PM

Filip @ Jun 17th 2009 1:58PM
Actually, I wanted to buy it... But they won't accept my debit card so...
mrnym @ Jun 17th 2009 3:41PM
The download is not yet available here in Turkey, too. I couldn't find any information about it in Apple web site.
rallyprox @ Jun 17th 2009 1:21PM
Will it update if you have already updated to 3.0? I may be having issues here... Darn my inability to wait for official releases.
rallyprox @ Jun 17th 2009 1:24PM
Never mind, I must have been jumping the gun on the update.
Dan @ Jun 17th 2009 1:21PM
CHECK YOUR ITUNES VERSION WILL NOT WORK ON ANYTHING OLDER THAN 8.2!!!

Do you really love lamp or just pointing at things in the room and saying you love them?
caleb @ Jun 18th 2009 10:31PM
+1 to all those replies.
Oh and I'm making this comment from my iPhone, while riding a furry tractor, by the way.

This is much faster (for me)

I have the 3.0 GM release also. I don't think we need to update, it's the exact same build number. Itunes won't recognize an update is needed since there is no software newer than what you are using.
Andrew Timson @ Jun 17th 2009 1:47PM
Having the same build number is, indeed, the *definition* of a GM ("Gold Master") release. :)
Quantic @ Jun 20th 2009 6:18AM
There must be a slight difference as the GM requires you to be a dev :)
r3loaded @ Jun 17th 2009 1:58PM
