Stop hitting F5, iPhone OS 3.0 release still hours away?

You can refresh all you want but that won't make the 3.0 update for your iPhone appear any faster. In fact, you might want to give your trigger finger a rest for a few hours -- Engadget bud, Richard Lai, noted in a tweet that Apple's Singapore site says that the iPhone OS 3.0 update will release on the 18th while Apple India says the 17th, the date announced by Apple -- the difference presumably accounting for the 2.5-hour timezone offset between the two countries. That would peg an OS 3.0 release anytime between 1700 and 1930 in London or between noon and 2:30pm in New York. But don't let a little knowledge ruin your obsessive behavior, where's the fun in that?

Update: The theory is supported by reports that carrier 3 in Hong Kong sent a network-wide SMS notifying iPhone owners that OS 3.0 will be available on June 18th, 01:00 local time. That's 1pm on the 17th in New York, 6pm in London, and 1900 in central Europe.

UM! my email crashes now. we have 2 3G iPhone's in our office that crash after you load your email. it was actually working fine until i received new mail. it says "downloading 1 of 2" then crashes. we are using a work exchange server.

Hey guys

I just upgraded my iPhone to 3.0 but when it finished iTunes told me i had to unlock my phone as it was either locked or had an invalid sim-card inserted. I then SIM-unlocked it and now everytime i connect it and it pops up in iTunes it won't connect to iTunes store and just gives me an error that it can't connect..

Any ideas why?

What the problem is it won't activate the upgrade. There is just an illustration on the phone telling me to plug it into iTunes..

Did the download. All went well until . . . I tried a second sync to add some podcasts and it has refused twice to do a full backup. I have stopped sync and tried again, but no joy!

Now it's saying activation server is not currently available..then I restarted iTunes....and now it wants to create ANOTHER backup...greeeattt

Like I said earlier, they wait until the afternoon when everyone is waiting to get OS3.0 to release it. Now with the flood of downloads their servers are "temporarily unavailable" . Nice one Apple.

About MMS. I called AT&T and they connected me with an Apple rep. I asked about MMS and why it was not present. I was told that MMS and Voice commands will not be available until late summer. I think that the new 3gS will have it though. This is probably a way for them to market their new toy to possible customers and make existing custies' think about buying the new 3gS even though it is not really a very updated phone at all.

In apple's defence and I should not be defending them at this point, they have included a couple of the updates out of the many they offered in the new OS 3.0./ One being the A2DP support for bluetooth stereo. I am excited to try this. Probably does not work though. :) I will get back to this after I have tested it.

I for one am pretty mad about this. I do not think it is a functionality issue either. I have visited forums for the beta soft releases and read that people did have mms working in beta. So...WTF Apple?

Well A2DP stereo BT works on OS 3.0, it is not as functional as it is on the BB Storm and other phones. A2DP is such a basic and widely used function of most phones as of 2007 you would think that Apple would have made this available a while ago and at least fully functional now. It will not pause music on a phone call it just mutes it. No push button playback either, you have to take the phone out and manually press the “soft key” on the phone.

I suppose it is like the Mac vs. PC argument. PCs just do more and are better prepared for the future of the industry. They are faster and more powerful. Macs have to be made compatible and use parts that are made for PCs and later released for Macs.

I do IT for a living and I just hate a Mac. Especially OS Tiger. You may have fewer attempts from hackers and viruses but that is not because the Mac OS was made to be more difficult to hack, send a Trojan or upload a virus, quite the opposite actually. The reason Macs have less Trojans ect is Macs are only about 1/4th of the industry. No one will waste their time. They just do not matter. The only reason people even buy a Mac is because they are trendy. The movie industry started this fad and now dumb people all over the world are following suit. I piss on Mac.

Apple can eat a Dick. I love my Iphone though  Just wish that Apple would deliver on their promises and stop those pooh boy commercials with the little DoucheMacFanboy
