While far from being a confirmation, major online retailers Gamestop and Amazon have independently of one another put up listings for the
DJ Hero / turntable bundle with the same October 27th ship date and $119.99 price tag for Wii, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360 owners -- the PS2 version is either the same price or $20 cheaper, depending on which site you trust. That's a good $70 less than the two-instrument
Guitar Hero World Tour package, but of course you're paying for a more single-player setup. Again, we haven't heard word one from Activision, and with over four months until this supposed date, things are likely subject to change (assuming these even came from the publisher in the first place, and weren't just magically pulled out of a large, black cap with frilly edges). We wouldn't be surprised to see this being the final price, though, and either way, it serves as a nagging reminder that the life of a fake plastic musician doesn't come cheap.

single player? what about all the honiez dancin' to my phat beats?
literally lol'ed
I believe he meant your only paying for one player; he was talking about the price being about $70 less than the GH bundle, but the GH Bundle comes with Multiple instruments, while this only comes with one turntable.
Also, Brilliant way of putting it. haha
hum ... they're virtual just like everything else in this game ...
meh
I really feel like I'm in the minority when I say I think this game looks cool. Yes, a creative element where you can remix your own tracks would be better (has it been ruled out?) , but I still think it looks fun.
im with you lawyer bird, but $120!? im pretty sure someone will dismatle a normal controller and make a turntable form it on-the-cheap as soon as the game comes out. $120 is way too much.
I would rather have a quality controller for $120, than something that could break easily. It really depends how durable the thing is. With the buttons on the turntable, I could see them having to use a stronger axle to support the buttons, as well as a counterweight so the table spins evenly.
And I don't want either of those to be cheap plastic.
Amazon has posted prices for half a month... why are you writing about it now?!
I was wondering the exact same thing...
Better then never?
eev
It bottles my mind how much this thing costs.
You mean boggles.
@rcarm:
Does he really? Think about it...
So ... your brain is in a jar? And you can type? You must have robot arms! Maybe you should be featured on Engadget!
No you guys, it's mind bottling... Like when your thoughts just get all jumbled together and it's like they're trapped in a bottle.
Needs more buttons or something. By itself it doesn't look that fun. Of course, that's what I said about guitar hero.
And the price: the whole rock band set (guitar, mic, drums) was like $180, just a bit more than this. And that was 3 instruments!
I'm actually looking forward too this game,
although I do have too complain the $120 price tag is way off what I was expecting.
I'd rather just ask my friend for his copy of Virtual DJ,
buy my own turn table(It'll cost more, but at least its real),
& learn off of online tutorials.
Rather then spending a whopping $120 for some plastic.
FAIL.
This would have been a seller at $99.99 (about the same price as a Guitar Hero game and a Wireless guitar controller) but nobody (well, hardly anybody) is going to pay $120 for a game and yet another music controller. These will be on clearance at Best Buy and Walmart by Christmas.
This looks like a b!tch to play left-handed...
I hope that "disc" can do a 180 for us south-paws...
The disc spins 360 degrees, and the crossfader portion can be de-attached and flipped to the other side.
Aw, what a shame....
This is what kills the wave of music video games.
Shouldn't have been any more than $99.99.
Well ... it was fun while it lasted.
This has been on the RedOctane site for a little while (for almost 2 weeks) so this isn't really news. In case no one knows RedOctane is the official publisher of Guitar Hero and now Dj Hero and Band Hero.
They have it listed for $119.99 with Free 2 day shipping and is available for pre-order with a street date of 10/27/09
So if RedOctane has it listed then it is official.

Cool gadget but I still don't have the budget. I have to repair my ATV. Perhaps, buying used ATV partswould suffice for now so I could spare money for that gizmo.
Does anyone know if this can be used with a PC like virtual dj? I feel the game will be too limited for the price and want to be able to use it with a PC and softwares so i can practice with my own music. i would rather buy a cheap turntable or something for about the same price or even a few bucks more.
this thing really looks ridiculous.
hmm sounds like you could be $120 closer to buying real tables and something like serato!
at first i had a lot of hate for this, being a DJ myself, but after reading the review in Game Informer, i'm actually quite intrigued . . .
I am a Nikon fanboy and this picture was taken by Nikon DSLR =)
And here I thought they used real plastic to make these. Or are the musicians plastic like in Bill and Teds Bogus Journey.
nice lens caps....
I'm still wondering if that last line was a crack at the gamers or actual dj's.
I don't understand how this device can possibly cost them more than $50 to manufacture. Sure you still need to take development and R&D costs into account, but c'mon!!! 120 frakkin bucks?????
I was stoked to get this when it comes out. But now, I'll just wait for it to go on sale or be bundled with a massive guitar hero/rock band mega-super bundle that includes everything for a discounted price.
Or eBay...
