are there a bunch of bums living today? Get this, I have never had a job, and I managed to purchase the ps3 January 2008 with my own money. explain that.
I love how you say "with my own money," meaning, "money that was given/loaned to me." Even more ironic is, you call people "bums" right before admitting you've never had a job...grats?
We are neither a) age 12 and not receiving $100 from our weird uncle anymore or b) born into money.
Your own money? Are you seriously 12? No adult says "I bought it with my own money."
If you are unable to consider that maybe just a few of us pay to rent or own a place to live, make car, insurance, phone, cable tv payments every single month, that at the end of the da, we just can't justify spending $400 on a PS3, when then, you sir, are helpless.
The definition of bum is homeless. I received multiple scholarships, didn't need any loans, and to this day don't need loans. And I'm going to turn 21 in August, my AA is completed, and I will be 75% complete with a bachelors degree in Network Engineering. Masters soon thereafter.
Jon, you are a fucking idiot! Tons of people are homeless right now. Not cause they are "Bums" but because they lost their job. Have you not looked around latley, the job market sucks. No one is going to buy a gaming unit for $400 right now. Sony NEEDS to cut prices if they want to catch up with Microsoft/Nintendo.
Jon, if your claims about yourself are indeed true, then you are obviously one of those people who can be educated and appear smart, but have absolutely no common sense. You are going for your masters and have never had a job, why don't you come down to the real world? I'm not too worried though, that will happen to you soon enough when you get out in the job market and can't find a job with all your degrees.
Yeah bud, I have connections too, doesn't mean I'm going to go out and switch jobs. If you have the connections, why don't you use them? It makes no sense that someone who would be claiming themselves to be so smart like you are doing would not be working. Like I said, lack of common sense. I have family members with their masters, yet they are doing nothing in their field. Degrees, schools, connections - the "educated" world say they matter, but not always.
Once you get a job, reality will set in. I too studied engineering and got a great job out of it. However, once you start adding up your bills for an apartment or mortgage, car, insurance, food, RRSP contributions (I think they're called 401Ks in the US), and utilities, that money drains fast. Then you add a family to that and it starts getting tight in a hurry. And just when you think you finally have things under control, something new will come up.
Do I have disposable income? Yes. Do I feel like throwing it around without getting a good value for it? Not a chance.
Oh, and for the record: I look for two things in a candidate: credentials and experience. All the connections in the world can't overcome a complete lack of work experience. At least not if you want a job you'll actually enjoy.
The same people complaining about the current price will keep complaining even after Sony drops the price. They never had the intention of buying the PS3 in the first place. It's the same people who repeat idiotic BS about the console, such as the PS3 has no good games, that nobody uses it for gaming or that the online experience sucks.
I mean read Jon's post, he said he just completed his AA? Seriously, who says that? Wow, your associates degree man, where do you go, a community college? Not that i have anything against someone going to one, but trying to brag about finishing 2 years of college is like saying yep, i got my halfway thru high school diploma, its pretty sweet. And for the record, I JUST graduated from college, and got accepted into an MBA program and if I didn't have any work experience they would have laughed at me and thrown my application into the trash.
There is a lot you still don't know about living in the adult world and all of it's demands. Rent, insurance, food, utilities, taxes, car payments etc.... and chances are your scholarships won't cover it all of your tuition, books, and fees through your masters leaving you with some debts in one way or another. And if you plan to have a social life, forget it. Good for you though if you can manage, but people aren't bums just because they would like a gaming device to be more affordable.

You must be known for having the best drugs in town then
No silly, Drug Dealer is clearly an occupation.
Maybe he "purchased" it from a locked car...
Still living in your parents' basement huh?
Yep sounds like every PS3 owner I know, no job and lives with mommy and daddy.
I'm a full time college student btw.
Ahh, Student Loans. My roommate did that too, used his student loans on things besides school. Now he's in a lot of debt.

thanks for the laugh though.
You're 12, quit sucking your moms tit.

That's your fault for not buying it sooner...

I can get a job tomorrow if I wanted one. It's all about connections and who you know. I'm done talking to you idiots its a waste of my time.
I'd never hire a guy out of college that never held a job in his life. Obviously no demonstrated work ethic.
You are the bum.

Jon got wrecked.
You have a Masters in Being a Bitch and Getting Destroyed on a Message Board.
Happy graduation!

I hope this is not how you were in debate class or public speaking because you just got owned, bad.
