Sure, we've seen plenty of
iPhone clones in our day, but we'll say this: this is the clome to beat all clomes. It really takes the KIRF standard up a notch, running the best fake OS X we've seen to date. This one's identity is less confused than many of the knockoffs we usually see, and if you're lucky enough to get your hands on one of these 4GB having-babies... well, you just might be able to convince your grandma that it's the iPhone 3G S. Video is after the break.

The sad thing is that this thing is probably better than the POS ATT Quickfire I am stuck with.
caleb @ Jun 20th 2009 9:25PM
The sad thing is that the only reason why you HAD to add that comment was so you could be first poster.
Quantumphysics @ Jun 20th 2009 9:21PM
The one thing I can say about KIRF makers is that many times, they pack in features that the real manufacturer is stupid for not having included in the first place.
The first iphone kirf I remember had SD card expansion, 3.5 mm headphone jack and could Copy Paste.
The rest of the phone was shit, but at least I could use my damn headphones.
Josh @ Jun 20th 2009 9:29PM
@Caleb: Yeah, because every time someone posts a comment it is so that they can be the first poster. I didn't even know I'd be the first poster. I was just looking for a replacement for the piece of crap Quickfire and this article popped up in my RSS feed so I figured I would comment on my crappy phone.
iphonerulez @ Jun 20th 2009 10:16PM
iPhomerulez!! That is some unwieldy input method. You'd think they'd be using some finger character-drawing recognition system or something.
John B. @ Jun 21st 2009 12:12AM
@Quantumphysics Which iPhone didn't have a 3.5 mm jack on it?
Taylor @ Jun 21st 2009 5:33AM
John B.: The original iPhone 2G had a recessed 3.5mm jack meaning you had to use iPod/iPhone headphones OR an adapter.
dan @ Jun 21st 2009 12:22PM
The sad thing is that the only reason caleb HAD to add that comment was so he could be the first troll.
RBRT @ Jun 21st 2009 2:13PM
@Taylor: Wrong, I have an original iPhone and despite the recessed jack it is EASY to make any normal pair of headphones work without an adapter. For instance, I am currently using my iPhone with Zune premium headphones (ironic, right?)

I too hate the clones. I tried to send Engadget a tip on this RAZR3 Ruby Ve1 KIRF, but they never bothered with it. Here's a link to it, its called the Jinpeng T188

i wouldn't mind getting a clone of megan fox if i could customize her attributes to turn her in a more pleasant female to hang around with than the real one...

Richard Lai @ Jun 20th 2009 9:20PM
Soon Apple will learn that not updating the iPhone's housing makes it easier for knock-offs to catch up. :(

Mirco SD slot? FM radio? How bout a not so POS screen.
(I own an iPhone 3G, its awesome in a lot of ways. but has a lot of handicaps) =/
larryryan0824 @ Jun 20th 2009 9:47PM
I don't see why if these companies can make an iPhone clone, why they don't just make a good phone themselves. It's stupid to me. No one want to buy a ghetto iPhone.
michielvanlaeken @ Jun 20th 2009 9:35PM
"I'm waisting my time i've got nothing to do, i'm making this iphone-clone just for you"
But i wonder...I wonder how, I wonder why...
I wonder why...
Gabe @ Jun 20th 2009 10:45PM
Well, paying just about no money for R&D is more or less why. These companies also don't need to pay any taxes or registration fees. So the thing seen above costs probably like $25 to make.
4vo @ Jun 20th 2009 9:37PM

All he's shown is how slow the OS. And OH! you can drag your finger across the screen too! Excellent!
Travis May @ Jun 20th 2009 10:18PM
Yeah, that was a lame demo video. Maybe that's all it can do right now. Also, you can see light from the leds at the top of the screen.
Appropriate song though, "in the boring room...I'm wasting my time, I got nothing to do."
patriotsn1 @ Jun 20th 2009 10:11PM
With as much as engadget writes about the iphone, I'm surprised they haven't posted an article about hidden dog whistle feature that thousands and thousands of lucky iphone users got! Come on engadget, you're slackin!
