Hori's Tekken 6 Xbox 360 / PS3 joystick ain't a bad way to burn $150
Got a knack for fighting titles? Have a particular fondness for Tekken? If so, you definitely shouldn't be playing with a stock controller, and that's exactly why Hori has crafted the beauty you're inevitably peering at above. The stick, which will ship as part of a Tekken 6 Wireless Fight Stick Bundle bundle, will be made available soon for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 (shown after the break), and according to our pals over at Joystiq, it'll be on sale at a variety of respected retailers for $150. Said MSRP also includes a collectible art book and a pinch of pride, which totally justifies the somewhat steep asking price. Right? Right.

The artbook looks hot!
I'm just a very lonely person...
but still hot.
Oh great. More semi-naked anime video games. The one instance where I don't claim to be a video game nerd.
1. Not anime.
2. Not nekkid.
3. Controller is hot, if you've ever played any true fighting game.
I modded my Super Advantage (Read: SNES gamepad similar to the one above) to a USB connection so I can use it for things like this.
Dude... you have no idea what you are talking about so please hold it.
Tekken is an absolute classic.
Is there really only 1 controller included in this package? What good is one controller? You clearly need 2, otherwise one player has an advantage...
You are obviously clueless. Tekken is not Anime.
Being clueless about Tekken, I do not mind, sir.
I bet he's got Dead or Alive fixated in his head as the "representative" of 3D fighting games. One of DoA's major selling points was indeed boobs and scantily clad ladies (look at the movie, it's obvious). Thing is, Tekken has been around for a lot longer, about as long as Virtua Fighter, and both are "hard-core" fighting games with a long standing reputation. People who play it aren't playing it to stare at bobbing boobs or exposed skin (and there isn't much at all compared to DoA), they play it because it's hardcore fighting. The only person who would make a comment like this is one who has extremely limited experience with games (ie clueless about video games in general, not just Tekken). I hope you don't claim to be a video game nerd, period.
One controller is good, or else you'd be paying even more than $150, which would be pointless for people who play alone. Another controller should be available for purchase separately, as usual for most Hori stuff.
Way to be living under a rock for the past 14 years! Tekken's one of the most popular gaming franchises and you have no idea as to what it is...
Clueless Huh?
actually it doesn't justify it...ill wait for it to reach the engadget recession grab bag, if you know what i mean
It won't reach that because joysticks sell like hotcakes.
That 6 looks a lot like a 5.
Yeah and if you've played the game as I have, you'd be inclined to think they just added 6 more characters and closed the 5 up into a 6 too. : )
Yes it does.
Wow Tekken on an Xbox? Thought this day wouldn't ever come.
I find tekken women more attractive than real women. Am i in trouble?
...not if you're gay.
No, just move to Korea. Or anywhere in Asia, really. Women over here are that hot.
@nikster:
You must be a biiiig fan of Richard Bernstein's "The East, The West, and Sex."
Imperialist attitude much?
Hey Mad Catz, you hear that sound? It's the sound of you losing sales to this stick.
Now that you splurged on that Microsoft license for the wireless technology, perhaps now is a good time to announce something? Hmmmmm.....
BTW, how about a DUAL PURPOSE stick that works on both PS3 and 360?? It's not like it's technically impossible.
the amount of users that own a xbox360 AND a ps3 trend is petty.
but for $150... you can have both (and even wii).
Do you hear that sound? That's the sound of all arcade sticks, MadCatz included being sold out.
I just got my TE stick for the PS3.....stick is insanely nice. I already had a CE stick modified with Sanwa buttons and Sanwa stick. Sanwa stuff is so crispy. Love it. Both sticks are great and you can't go wrong with either of them.
There is going to be an onslaught of sticks coming soon. It's going to kill my wallet.
I would find these arcade sticks vastly more desirable without the giant artwork stickers on them. How about a nice plain black or white stick with solid components in it?
So you get the game, the book and the stick for $150? A little steep but I think I would still buy it. Especially if the stick will work well with other fighting games.
I grew up on arcade fighter games so this would be perfect for me. If I owned an Xbox 360 or a PS3 that is...
people say the $35 hori sf4 arcade stick isnt that different from the $150 one
good to know thanks.
They're not even close. The Hori Fighting Sticks ($50) are throwaway garbage for casuals who won't use them for more than a few hours total. The Standard Edition Mad Catz sticks ($80) aren't great, either, but are at least easy to mod.
The Hori Real Arcade Pro ($120) controllers are pretty good, though, if you get the Seimitsu/Sanwa editions ($$$) or manually swap out the components. The Tournament Edition Mad Catz sticks ($150) are at least as good as those -- they're easily the best sticks you can buy at retailers in the United States.
The stick moves left and right also, right? In the picture it only looks like it goes up and down!
Actually, the stick doesn't move at all, and only one of the buttons is functional with Tekken 6. It's a new direction in fighting game control schemes: The button is called the 'KO' button, and when you press it your fighter goes into a pre-choreographed move sequence guaranteed to knock the other player the F out. It takes all that nasty learning curve and move memorization out of the mix, brings the game back to the players.
You're seeing a shadow that looks like a channel for the joystick to move in. Silly Hamfighter.
@deuche :
That was terrible, try harder.
There's a plate under the joystick which hides the hole allowing the movement of the joystick. The "hole" you are seeing now is just a shadow.
mod that stick out with a hori stick and buttons, then pwn
You mean Sanwa, right?
yeah, I did, fail
If you're going to replace all the relevant parts, why not just take a bog standard (and cheap) controller, stick it in a box, and put in Sanwa buttons/stick? It's be much cheaper than $150+sanwa parts.
Any specs on the stick/buttons? For $150 it should at least be a Sanwa Stick. I bought the Hori Real Arcade Pro (which this might actually be, just with Tekken stickers) and swapped out the Hori buttons for Seimitsu.
Here's a pic of my baby:

I'm ready for some Tekken!
Wait, they want $150 for a Hori stick? Isn't that a bit too much, seeing how the Tournament Edition SF4 stick, pure Sanwa btw, was also $150? Well you do get the artbook, and the game, so the value of the stick probably falls to $80 which is comparable to the cheaper SF4 Fight Stick but still...
But still what? Wireless is more expensive dummy.
@Monkey
None of the sticks are wireless you dumbass
oh nvm, i thought he was talking about the madcatz sticks. Anyway, the Tekken 6 is gonna go for 89 dollars by itself.. so the wireless is not what makes the price "expensive". I doubt the stick will have ANY sanwa/semeitsu parts and be full of stock hori. Call it a glorified hori ex2 stick if you will...
both tournament and normal sf4 sucked ass.. sanwa parts my ass. the tourney stick i purchased was flimsy and everytime i would mash the "short" button hard enough the another button "fierce" or "medium" would register instead... needless to say it went right back to fry's. For some reason the x arcade stick works better. I just need them to have an adapter for the 360.
What's the difference between Hori and Sanwa? I want to up my Soul Calibur 4 game and vicariously Tekken 6 when it comes out.
Will this work with Street Fighter 4? It wouldn't be such a bad idea after all.
Damn I just finished my HRAP EX mod. Anyone know a way to get a 360 controller to work with Wii (need it for Tasunko vs Capcom)
Here is my stick
