Android -- the invite for the shindig playfully teases us with a rose in the picture, after all, which is probably a reference to HTC's
Rosie UI that's been circulating in leaked ROM form for a while now. Indeed,
Pocket-lint points to a fellow journalist whose "colleague" has apparently played with the new hardware and gives it a "rave review," so we're excited to find out what it is exactly that HTC's got brewing -- and as we've said before, it certainly lines up nicely with T-Mobile UK's
promise of more G1 Touch details "soon." At any rate, we'll be on hand to find out what's good as it happens, so stay tuned for all the HTC news that's fit to print starting at 6:30AM ET, 11:30AM London time.

I suspect the G1 Touch will be just an HTC Magic with special T-Mobile branding, ie a colour that Vodafone hasn't yet used for the HTC Magic. If so, I wish Samsung would hurry up and release its Galaxy i7500 in the UK...

An official phone with (hopefully) a keyboard in a slim Pre-esque shell? I'd love that. Or put Android in the Touch Pro 2 shell.
Right now we only have the G1 for kb-loving Android people. And it's not exactly a quality device, design-wise or hardware-wise.

I hear you - the G1 appealed to me so much because it had a kb to accompany the cap touch screen and track ball. All the new ones are ditching the kb. Wtf?!

Possibility of HTC bringing out a pre killer I think..
Although I don't know how good android is compared to webos, it could be a long stretch just to match the pre.

Believe it or not..I spent 45 minutes talking to a T-Mobile representative. We were talking about all these rumors and he said that they were trained for the G1 V2 1 month ago....He said they have heard nothing since except there might be a surprise release announcement in july,,can't wait.
I have decided that, because of that poster-ad, I will not buy whatever it is they announce.
This is no idle threat, I am a purchaser of a great many unnecessary gadgets. But you have to draw a line somewhere.
