I can't understand why HTC doesn't put a 3.5mm jack into a phone like this....
Cause everything is going to miniUSB and wireless bluetooth.
3.5mm is old news. Really. miniUSB is now the standard for charging and storage transport (and other stuff)--even Nokia abandoned their 2mm charger port for miniUSB. And stereo BT will eventually provide superior quality than studio headphones.
The time has come, standardized on one standard connector... everyone except Apple is doing it.
Apple won't do it because they still want to charge you $60 for a USB-cable-to-wall-plug adapter and another $30+ for the USB cable itself should you lose it.
ok so what about regular PMP's? are you suggesting they should all adopt miniUSB as well? What about RIM, blackberry's come with 3.5mm jacks also.
Actually everyone is dropping MiniUSB for MicroUSB. The HTC Hero has a 3.5mm audio port and a micro usb port
Could they have at least wiped the phone down before taking the pic? Looks like it was used as a prop in a porn movie!
Samsung i7500 is the one for me in march 2010 i will get it if there no other one coming soon that will be better. So tmobil you got a new costumer :)
iPhone is better IMO
Stereo Bluetooth is no good because it is heavy and requires batteries in the headphones- so no earbuds-only bulky headsets.
Bluetooth better than studio quality headphones? You have no clue what you are talking about.
This phone looks great compared to what TMobile has offered before- It will be the best phone yet next to the iphone. However- screen size should match Iphone, and Android's dialer is horrible compared to any other phone I've used since 1999.
How long have engadget been in business? Why the fuck do you guys have such a sorry ass
excuse for a comment/log in system? Your site is ad central take some that money and work on
fixing your internals NOW!!!.
Regarding the phone i think it looks awesome. I am an ex-iphoner and I must say android is light years beyond what the iphone is in terms of everything.
love that i can turn it into a mobile wifi hot spot and i can connect any device. I use it on my car to connect my macmini to it to scroblle music to last.fm it is perfect.
Debating wether to stick with the awesome g1 or make the switch. It sure does feel awesome to have an actual keyboard again.
Is it just me or has the term "3G" jumped the shark?
I agree with so many people who've posted here. Not having a 3.5mm headphone jack kills this for me too, & going to a 10 ton BT headset is out of the question until they reduce the size & weight. The screen needs to be larger too (close to the iphone size) unless they've corrected the freaking small font sizes in messaging & especially email. I'll never understand why no one considered enabling zooming throughout the entire OS so that those of us who don't have the best of vision can read an email without getting eye strain.
I really, really, really wanted to like this phone...but the hardware specs, no headphone jack (sorry I'm not going to this "way of the future bluetooth headphones that require batteries") and general unpolished look is just a killer for me.
I tried the G1 for 2 weeks...it was a horrible experience. I'm sure they've ramped up some things with "cupcake" and I hear say that "donut" is coming in the Fall...which means it'll be here a few years after Christmas.
IS there anywhere in there that details if UMA is included?
Please...
Wow. A battery extender and docking station - iPhone users have to pay 100$ for juice packs. Htc really put top notch accessories in the packages. Nice carrying bag too.
if its got a2dp bluetooth, then who cares if it has a 3.5mm jack or not?
According to the T-Mobile website, pre-sale on the MyTouch 3G begins at midnight eastern time, Wednesday, July 8.
