Seagate introduces FreeAgent Go Dock+ with powered USB hub
We have no idea why Seagate buried this in a warmed-over press release touting rehashed FreeAgent for Mac drives, but there's a new $40 FreeAgent Go Dock+ that doubles as a powered three-port USB hub. Pretty convenient if you're into the whole FreeAgent Go lifestyle, we'd say, but we're sticking with our versatile bareback SATA docks.

white is the new black.
Yeah.
Just like Eminem.
less USB, more firewire Seagate!
How about; less USB 2.0, more USB 3.0?
How about less USB 2.0
more USB 3.0, Firewire 800, and Esata
where is eSATA these days?
These are meant to be portable drives that can be easily used among multiple computers. Almost all computers you encounter will have at the very least USB1.0, the same can't be said for eSATA though.
Hmmm, we've carried these for a good month now at the Best Buy I work at. They seem to be alright though.
Any of the other gays here going to comment on just how much sexual innuendo can be thrown at that "versatile bareback" line? No? Fine.
I was just about to say something about that... I can't believe engadget is promoting unprotected USB connections. God only knows where those ports have been.
This probably explains a lot of the retail promotions where they would give you the FreeAgent Go Dock free with drive purchase of a compatible drive. That or they couldn't get anybody to pay 19.99 or 29.99 for what is in all intents and purposes a USB cable with a decorative piece of plastic holder at one end.
This looks like something Apple designed.
except it doesn't cost 3 times as much.
nah. if apple deigned it, the power connector would be on the back, not the side. It would be $50, not $30, and would ship with a white apple sticker. And an attitude.
(and I'd own one....)
Was gunna say the same thing.
Cool! Ill probably be picking one of these up- I have the first dock but i recently lost my leather case for the drive so if this one comes with another one so i can ferry it back and forth from school to home then I'm set :)
