Video: iPhone 3GS gets professional shoulder mount, we giggle

So, the first time we watched this Macbreak video, we thought to ourselves, "now, this is downright silly" but the second time? Well... we probably won't be investing $300 in a pro Red Rocks Micro shoulder mount for any iPhone 3GSs anytime soon, but the video does demonstrate what we all already knew: if you stabilize an even decent mobile phone cam, the results are better than if you don't. I love how the iPhail fanboys never talk about all the people with previous generation iPhones that got screwed with no Video Recording app - that it was 3GS only. People around me in the office all groaned when they happily did the O/S 3.0 update and were then disappointed to see no video app - nice going apple.

..and btw the IP 3GS is capable of shooting video at 720p, we just have to wait for some devs to release an app on cydia.
I'd like to see Pre or Zune or whatever Microsoft/Symbian fanboys drooling thamselves on doing just that.
On IP 3G there are apps such as Cycoder, which enables you to record videos with no problems.
And yeah Macbooks still suck.

Well, that's more of a question of the quality of the sensor. Even though the processor may be able to encode such resolutions it may be impossible to scan the sensor with a frequency high enough for 720p video. I guess the biggest thing that bugs everyone who hates 3GS are three things:

- iPhone should have been able to do this from day one - adding this feature wasn't progress, it was caching up.
- if iPhone has the power to do 720p now, why doesn't it do it now? I guess it's because Apple wants to make you buy a new iPhone 3GSX next year - this time with 720p video. It's just lame, how Apple mistreats it's customers and still gets glorified.
- it's another "innovation" hijacked by Apple: it's nothing new, just in an Apple package, and suddenly everyone is crazy about it.

The Symbian powered Samsung i8910 HD shoots 720p video and other Symbian phones have been shooting VGA videos at 30 fps for over 2 years now so i don't see your point.

I was going to laugh at it, but when I saw how clear the video from the GS was, then it started to make sense about doing podcasts, etc. The rig might be a little bulky, but the concept is there. Would I use a GS for video instead of a Flip? Not sure, but the built-in editing features and the upload to youtube sure looks attractive.

I have never met a single person who uses apple products that fits this "hipster" box you guys always point us too. In fact everyone i know who uses Apple computers, has run the gamut from unix-linux-windows-osx. ALL of the people i know that use apples except for my wife and mother in law, are professionals in the tech industry.

This brings up another point that just makes me laugh every time i see one of these little mini hate posts. This is a Tech Blog, the guys who write for this tech blog have used and reviewed THOUSANDS of computers/phones/cameras. There is a reason these guys and just about every other tech blog employee uses Apples, Its because they like them and they do what they want, it is not because apple pays them, or because they just hate MS. Just keep that in mind next time one of you MSKKK starts your hate speech.
