Best Buy-sponsored survey shows that Americans want smartphones even though they don't understand them
Do you understand your smartphone... really understand it? Know its moods, its wants, its desires? A survey hosted by Best Buy Mobile shows that half of people don't, with 47 percent saying the things confuse the heck out of them, while 60 percent of those aged 35 - 49 feel that people with smartphones spend too much time working and not enough time playing Wii Sports Bowling. Those feelings of confusion and ire doesn't stop a "sizable segment" of the rest of the 1,000 people surveyed from wanting a handset with brains, with most desiring access to the sort of apps you can't get on dumbphones, and 14 percent of women saying that playing games was "very important" -- only nine percent of men said the same. Sadly, there was no figure indicating how many people enjoy paying too much for text messages and signing their lives away on lengthy contracts.

Singing our live away... Is that what we are doing, really? I thought we were getting a good deal on a great device with services we will pay for, for the next 2 years regardless. Huh! Shows what I know.
I agree! I can't beleive it when people gripe about a contract. Like they will suddenly stop using a cell phone in three months. Then you find out they usually spend $30 to $60 a week on prepaid because a monthly bill is to high! WTF? That's $120 to $240 a month for not having a high bill to pay all at once. These are the same idiots that pay $1200 for a $300 computer with those no credit check rip off scamms. The easiest way to get average inteligence people to pay more is to tell them how much they will be saving. Face it 93% of the populace are morons it's just not pc to clue them in on it anymore. Sad sad sad.
The trick is, there really isn't a hard definition of what a smart phone is. Also, who doesn't want a smart ?
If I was looking to buy an operating system, home, car or TV and asked:
- "Do you want a smart operating system?"
- "Do you want a smart home?"
- "Do you want a smart car?"
- "Do you want a smart TV?"
I would probably say, "yes!" The alternative is not wanting a smart phone... which can be perceived as wanting a "dumb" device.
Errr, no thinks.
Reminds of the old "Women's car lot joke.

My mom just got an iPhone, she expects to use it on a daily basis, but she couldn't actually ever figure out how to use her old RAZR... Waste of money if you ask me.
In response to your response (erm, sorry, I'm still new at this)
well You make a great point, and in regards to the iPod comment, What I meant to say, is that the iPhone is basically an iPod Touch, with phone capabilities and a ridiculous app store.. That being said, I shall revise my comment, as believe the real credit goes to the iPod + app store, as a content delivery system. (I mean the 3GS just came out, and specifications-wise, I'm not impressed, especially compared to the other smartphones available.)

Hah! Brilliant line.
Yeah, the dumbasses think that somehow it will make them smarter. Good god almighty--my neighbor said she was having trouble with her AOL email that she's been using since the dawn of AOL. Knowing that she was using AOL proprietary sofware (because I've instructed her a dozen times where to find her downloads), I told her to use her web browser and go to AOL.com. She then called and asked me "how do I load my web browser?" Another neighbor called and asked me "how do I remove boldface from a Word document?"
It's gotten to the point where I "zip it" whenever the conversation turns to technology! Maybe a "Smart" phone will help but it's NOT going to magically multiply brain cells.
It's the beginning of the end folks. Natural selection has a way of taking care of problems such as these. Too bad it's obsolete.
The "Sent from my iPhone" is a pre-added signature?
Does the ego of Apple know no bounds?
