eMachines intros ET1300-02, ET1810-01 and ET1810-03 desktop PCs
Just a few short weeks after eMachines outed its EL1300 line of SFF PCs, the company is hitting us up again with a new trio of full-size desktops. The ET1300-02, ET1810-01 and ET1810-03 are all encased within a luminous white mini-tower and ship with a matching LCD monitor, speakers and a keyboard. As for specs, the $449.99 ET1300-02 checks in with an AMD Athlon X2 4850e (2.5GHz) CPU, Vista Home Premium, NVIDIA's GeForce G100 (512MB), 3GB of DDR2 memory, a 160GB hard drive, 18x SuperMulti DVD burner, multicard reader, HDMI / DVI / VGA outputs and an 18-inch E182H display. The $369.99 ET1810-03 steps to a 2.2GHz Pentium E2210 CPU, GeForce 7500 integrated graphics and just a single VGA port, while the $299.99 ET1810-01 cranks it down to a 1.6GHz Celeron 420 and 2GB of DDR2 RAM. The trio should be filtering out to respected retailers as we speak.

I agree, the majority of modern computers are still ugly, and this isn't really what people want.
SEVENim @ Jul 1st 2009 11:00AM
I betcha this still cant run vista for shit. Now all those middle aged people can buy this to save a buck and complain that their vista doesn't work, and that they can use twitter and play bejeweled at the same time without slowing down.
SEVENim @ Jul 1st 2009 11:01AM
er, cant*
Sisyphus @ Jul 1st 2009 11:01AM
eMachines is still in business?
Man, I haven't been to a big-box computer store in more than a decade.
Austin @ Jul 1st 2009 11:03AM
Why is this featured on Engadget? This PC looks like it's 10 years old. PLUS, the specs on it sucks.
GBeatzRecrds @ Jul 1st 2009 11:07AM
Celeron? BURN AND BURY. BURN AND BURY!
Galactus @ Jul 1st 2009 11:13AM
I'd actually consider the 1300-02, if I could be sure what sort of PSU was in it.
Galley @ Jul 1st 2009 11:20AM
Hey, even that $299 POS would blow away my work PC.
BAWWW @ Jul 1st 2009 11:24AM
That $299 POS beats all my computers.
:(
slyd3z @ Jul 1st 2009 1:22PM
Sounds like both you guys need to pony up $299.
blainegeneral @ Jul 1st 2009 11:55AM
Last time I checked this stuff wasn't worth the plastic and electronics they used to make it. NEXT PLEASE.
DaftFunk @ Jul 1st 2009 12:12PM
Come on guys, chill with the hate. Just because its on the website doesent mean that engadget wants you to buy them. These desktops can easily run vista SEVENim, and personally, I think they look pretty good. I appreciate what eMachines is doing trying to fill a gap in the market for budget pre assembled desktops, though personally, being a system builder, I would never buy one.
Eddie.exe @ Jul 1st 2009 2:17PM
Yeah for $300? For a 1.6 celeron? Two and a half years ago I got a 2.0 single core for $250! ...and 512mb of ram...and 100gb HDD...and a shitty intergated video adapter...I'll just stop now..
Rick @ Jul 1st 2009 2:09PM
I bought a ET1300-02 from Costco for 419.00. It runs Vista better than my other (older) machines and it does great ripping DVD's for my iPod. I am a CS teacher and it compiles my larger projects in Studio 2008 very quickly. All-in-all I'd say it's good band for the buck!
Austin @ Jul 1st 2009 2:34PM
Rick... you fail as a CS teacher -.-
I'd except a CS teacher to be building his computer instead of buying crap, overpriced computers such as this one.
KevinC @ Jul 1st 2009 2:49PM
rude
Absolute92 @ Jul 1st 2009 3:24PM
I had an Emachine(had less then 512Mbytes of Ram), then upgraded to a Hp Pavilion.(3Gbytes)
Ben @ Jul 1st 2009 6:43PM
You're cool.
ryan @ Jul 18th 2009 1:04PM
I purchased the et1300-02 (has the G100 512mb graphics card) because my old comp crapped out on me. I thought "hey, $399 for a computer that is decent AND a video card? great deal!"...not so much. The video card is about $60 if you purchased it elseware and it can't play games at all. I tried to load up Crysis and it couldnt get through the intro lol. Granted, i am not a gamer and i didnt buy this for a gaming machine, but come on, my p4 could have ran the game and it is 4 years old. The computer runs vista ok but I have seen better. It can be slow to responding sometimes. There is not a lot of preloaded crap on it which is a plus. It runs quiet and looks nice.
Regardless of its pros, there are other machines out there that are better values. I am going to return it, spend $100 more and get something a little better spec'd.
Naris @ Jul 21st 2009 7:16PM
FWIW they seem to have changed the video card in the ET1300-02 to a much more crappy integrated Geforce 6150SE.
As for your comment...
Games use graphics cards more than they use CPUs. That being said, I can't imagine why you'd ever consider pairing a P4 with a graphics card decent enough to run Crysis. Furthermore, the specifications on their website state that there is a PCI Express x16 2.0 slot. I seriously doubt the 2.0 designation given the chipset but even a plain old PCI Express x16 could take whatever card you used to run Crysis with on your old desktop.
The ET1300-02 is sold at Costco which has a very nice support system and a fair return period. This costs as much as a decent video card, and can't be expected to play games. For someone who doesn't need gaming and just wants everything including a decently reviewed monitor this really isn't a horrible deal.
I doubt most who read this site would have much use for this computer for personal use, but we all have parents/grandparents/relatives who aren't that tech savvy, and this would work for them.
