Fuck PETA. but why on earth do we need to kill pythons to make some obscure, completely unnecessary shiny headphone ? a carbon fibre arc would have been much better - looked better, and would have been much stronger.

I'd much rather spend the money on getting something for the sound quality, then some fancy pants design made with dead animal parts. Give me some Bose Triports any day. Ok, that was a lie. I'd much rather have my UE Triple Fi 10's. That's one thing I can't live with out I think.
BTW do you notice that everyone and their brother now releases their own line of headphones? I swear I saw some Sony headphones in Best Buy with real tires attached to them for "Extreme" bass. What...?!

j9junk, if you stop to investigate them, I think you will find that PETA isn't the warm and fuzzy animal loving group you think they are. This is the same group that "saves" animals from shelters by picking them up and immediately killing them and is against the no-kill shelter movement. They advocate euthanizing all members of unpopular breeds.
As for your animals who are family -- they don't believe in that, either. They are actively working toward making it illegal to own pets, period. Plus they fund the ALF and ELF, both terrorist organizations.
If you'd like to donate to a cause that actually helps animals, Best Friends Animal Sanctuary is just one of the good ones, or better yet your local no-kill shelter.
i am not a Peta member or nor do i advocate them but how could human society justify killing an animal for luxury or sophistication ? and if today's consumer think they are brave enough to kill a wild animal then hunt them without any weapon and then see who win's [the battle must be fair enough] , u exploit others - other will exploit you [law of karma] , as lord Buddha say containment is the only thing that can show you the way to peace and harmony , so as guru Nanak says that there is enough in this world for one man's need but not for one man's greed !!!
my dear friends animals also has a family and also they are the member of our Eco-system rather than calculating the carbon-footprints count how much species of animals have extinct from this planet !!!!! respect nature , don't take it for granted , because if nature retaliates humans would be a history [remember the dinosaurs]
Actually Florida is starting to become overrun with pythons due to people introducing them into the wild after they become too big to be pets, so if they are going to start killing off an invasive species why not use part of them for something?
Fair is that each use all of their available faculty to fight including strength, instinct, knowledge, and bartering. I'm all for allowing the snakes to invent and/or trade for suitable weapons.
But sssuriously I'm waiting for the Kid Rock signature series.
This product just disgusted me so much that I just gave a donation to PETA and became a member. Thanks to the kind, gentle people on this blog who don't hate animals. They are our friends and companions here on earth. It is beneath us to joke around about killing them. It is a crude distortion to suggest an issue of animal over-population be dealt with by a cold, horrible product like headphones. Think about it James. I agree with you that there are problems to solve in regarding over-population and many others. But to suggest that headphones somehow fit into the sober issue of the balance of life on earth? I think these are two very different issues. Carbon fibers could simply do the trick. Heck, let them be recycled materials. Animal cruelty is not something we should be joking around about. I love my dog. He is 9 years old. He is my friend and a snake or a goat or any creature (including humans) deserves respect for being.
Dang. It's hard enough for a brother to keep his day job out here. Let's not get lost, following the corporate bling mirage of a product that most of us can't even think about affording AND Engadget has the nerve to lightly joke about 2 animals being KILLED to make a totally unnecessary product for $1,650 (!!!). Hello? The economy already tanked and this product is just insulting to decent people.

Why? They're throwing off the ecosystem in a place where they aren't even native. Standard conservation biology practice supports the concept of hunting pythons in Florida.

dear James , animals are meant to live in wild , they are not our entertainment box , the people who first bring them as pets in their homes never give a second thought that when this creature grow-up are they going to afford them [by cost or convenience] ? the real psychology behind bringing pets is not getting enough love from society or family or a person cannot express himself in from of other human beings so he/she gets all the attention and reciprocated love from their respective pets . today when we see a society of people accepting a animal but not another human [racist people]
