T3 Motion goes third wheelin' with its CT3 personal commuter EV
Don't get too excited, the above picture's only a render, but T3 Motion -- the company that brought you the security-focused electric stand-up vehicle -- is planning to bring this whip to life as the CT3 personal commuter / EV. As Autoblog points out, the lack of a fourth wheel should help this get classified as a motorcycle, meaning it won't be relegated to zipping around the neighborhood but still will be kept to a 45MPH top speed. However, a 80MPH CT-S version is in the works and will be entered into the Auto X Prize that'll get an envious 100 miles per gallon. Hit up the read link for the full presser.

No back seat for some lovin! First!
Richard @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:33AM
Really? Who cares? Your comment will probably just get deleted anyway and then nobody will know about your magnificent accomplishment in life.
dmitr77 @ Jul 2nd 2009 3:52AM
Believe it or not there are people who care about a back seat for that purpose or others.
darkmax @ Jul 2nd 2009 6:24AM
i don't care about the back seat... 'cos by the time you get this vehicle, your lovin' days should be well over with a punishment sitting just right in the middle in the back seat.
I can't understand why 3 wheels.... Does it make it any better, fuel efficient, or better cornering?... Keep thinking a tri-wheel is easier to roll on its side when doing a quick/urgent turn.
tmarks11 @ Jul 2nd 2009 7:59AM
3 wheels because it gets licensed as a motorcycle. That means it doesn't require all the mandatory safety equipment that a normal car does, which adds considerably to the $$$ and the weight.
More weight=less efficient, until you might as well be driving mom's old pontiac.
OneLove @ Jul 2nd 2009 10:15AM
make it transform and I will buy 3.
Richard @ Jul 3rd 2009 3:49PM
Wow, I said who cares because he said "first" not because of the back seat comment. Did Digg just join Engadget? Normally he would have been voted down or deleted.
finbred @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:32AM
That is one seriously BAD photochop, not a render. Can-you-pick-the-car-parts game... Looks like the poor sods are just trying to get noticed with this. Sad.
iccassidy @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:36AM
Only cool if everybody is driving one. Not cool if you are putting around town with this and some yuppie slams into you with his Hummer!
Mizzike @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:43AM
3 wheels? Have you seen only fools and horses?
WELL DONT SELL THIS DAMN THING TO ME THEN
djbentley @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:45AM
this is great if you only corner at 10mph
s.e.j.ramsay @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:50AM
Haha, terrible photoshop. Love how the hedge goes above the roof but isn't visible through the windscreen. And after they put all that effort into the rear window reflection too. The sign is pretty laughable also.
PhotoFre@k @ Jul 2nd 2009 2:51AM
A nice way to get beat up.
AMiSH PiRATE @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:52AM
If society beats people up for what they drive, then the pope's looking at a major ass whoopin'.
insky @ Jul 2nd 2009 3:10AM
Or you could build the XR3 Hybrid and get over 200 mpg at 80 mph.
http://www.rqriley.com/xr3.htm
Of course you have to build it yourself but it does look pretty cool.
Lucas @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:39AM
Mmmm, My first though is I could not fit in it.
My second thought is If I (or most adults) could fit in it the center of gravity would be so high that cornering is bound to be an issue. It looks to be designed like a car so you do all your turning with your front wheels but most likely lose any ability to lean like a bike (not to mention the wheels don't look to have much play in the turns either, the rims practically sit on the road). If you could get it up to 80 MPH you better know that you are on a strait away.
bartoron @ Jul 2nd 2009 8:30AM
That MPG is incredibly inaccurate, as much of it is coming from the electric power. If I had a car that got only 10 miles from a gallon of gas but could go 90 miles on a charge, I could go 100 miles in that car and only use one gallon of gas.
digitallysick @ Jul 2nd 2009 3:23AM
I like this, and would drive it , If only it was a little faster would be nice.
why not the LS2LS7? @ Jul 2nd 2009 3:24AM
That's such a terrible chop. The rear rim doesn't even attach on this side! And it just happens to be in the same orientation and lighting as the front left rim? Ridiculous.
They even chopped the logo plaque into the top left corner.
Fernando @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:16AM
The back wheel is blurring....
GB @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:49AM
@Fernando
That's because it's spinnin' as hell! ;)
BAWWW @ Jul 2nd 2009 4:05AM
Horrible shoop.
Kirkedal @ Jul 2nd 2009 3:42PM
Nothing Mr. Bean couldn't handle in a fresh new Mini anyway... :)
tmarks11 @ Jul 2nd 2009 8:04AM
You ant a 3 wheel electric, how about the Zap Alias for $25k.

Read their press release:
"With electricity being the most readily available source of fuel today, our zero gas emission CT3-S exemplifies the 'real world' opportunities electric vehicles have both today and in the future"
That is funny on several different levels... if you are an engineer (or an English major)....
Hackettman @ Jul 2nd 2009 9:50AM
This is rather practical...... A second seat wouldnt be too bad though......
Jim @ Jul 2nd 2009 10:54AM
That thing is uglier than a man's ass.
Dimitri @ Jul 2nd 2009 11:19AM
I'm glad such fuel-efficient, congestion-relieving vehicles are being developed.
Another cool one is the Tango EV, which I occasionally see zooming down highway 101 during the late mornings, at 85+ MPH.
bighit24 @ Jul 2nd 2009 12:49PM
And the award for "Car Most Likely to Not Get Laid In" goes to......
Ducman69 @ Jul 2nd 2009 8:03PM
My Suzuki Weestrom easily cruises at 90mph, seats two and my side luggage and 52liter top case, has a 300 mile range, and nets 55mpg while costing under $7K and $150 a year liability insurance.
The only thing is that its not waterproof, but seriously, these are a great idea, but they should just aim for something relatively inexpensive so lots of people can afford them as a second vehicle for commuting/errands, simple (gas/diesel powered), that'll get you 40-60mpg.
Keep it simple, stupid.
