Now, we've never been to this "Hall of Presidents" at Walt Disney World in Orlando, Florida (our parents instead taking us to real, disused dungeons and battlefields for family entertainment), but we're thinking about heading down there today -- not because the newest
animatronic addition -- President
Barack Obama -- has just been unveiled, but because his likeness is so... unlike him, so incredibly, terrifyingly creepy (and yet still impressive all the same). Yes, we'll pop all of our closest friends' children into the van and take a fantastic voyage down to the southern tip of our great nation just to see their reactions to this horrifying
robotic educational presentation. What better way to celebrate our nation's independence? Come to think of it... maybe our parents weren't so bad after all. Videos of Obamatron and of the President himself recording audio for it after the break.

When Obama gets healthcare through, my pharmeceutical stocks are gonna soar.
bondsbw @ Jul 3rd 2009 9:44AM
I know you're trolling off-topic... but I'll bite...
Do you really think that's how it will go down? The government will mandate health care, and will pay for it and the people will be happy, and the businesses will be happy making tons of money, all because the government is so giving?
No...
It will go down like this:
- The government will be like a huge mandatory insurance company, and will require companies to reduce charges to those who they benefit. That will cut a huge chunk of profits out, potentially making the profits fall short of the pre-health-care time period.
- The government will raise taxes. President Obama has already broken his word about not raising taxes on anyone making under $250K. (Hint... the government DOES NOT HAVE ITS OWN CASH. It's amazing how many people think that: http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2009/03/05/fox-news-poll-obama-believes-bigger-government/)
/end rant
Just be cautious of your government... ask yourself, if I give them total control, are they responsible enough to do everything right? Will the next administration be?
Gilbert King @ Jul 3rd 2009 10:06AM
Sell your stocks now. Obama will take over your pharmaceutical companies just like he did with GM. All profits will be squeezed out of those companies to benefit the Federal Government. This country is finished if we get sacked with Obama care. Your taxes are going to go sky high.

"Consumers would pay through the nose as electricity rates would necessarily skyrocket, as President Obama once put it, by 90% adjusted for inflation. Inflation-adjusted gasoline prices would rise 74%, residential natural gas prices by 55% and the average family's annual energy bill by $1,500."

I do not like the idea of healthcare for all at all. If you look at countries with healthcare for all, you'll notice that progress in medicine and success rate dramatically decrease. Remember, every action has an effect, and the end result is everyone will suffer.

More on the gas permits which would raise taxes on domestic oil 10% more than foreign oil, which would drive us to use more foreign oil:

Wrong on both counts. The word is "cite" or "citing". It cracks me up when somebody corrects something incorrectly like that. It's ok though, since it seems you are an Obama voter. You get a special handicap.
EEaudio08 @ Jul 3rd 2009 10:53AM
@Luke
First of all, it's "citing".
Secondly, he has four sources, one of which is Fox news. When will the facts be enough proof for you? If you keep denying that we are being robbed of our liberties, you'll be the one crying when you can't use the toilet more than 6 times a week, you can't use the light bulbs you want to use, and you can't choose the car you buy. I could just as easily tell you that the fools on CNN are not credible, so don't use the "Fox is a bunch of whiny right-wingers" excuse - come up with some hard facts that prove bondsbw is wrong, THEN maybe your comments will be somewhere close to credible.
The founding fathers would be shitting bricks if they could see what's being done to this country.

@bondsbw,
Electric utilities do not constitute taxes. And whatever Axelrod might be saying or what the media might be viewing it as, the taxes haven't been raised yet, like you claim. Any other sources of taxes that have actually been raised on people making less than $250k?

"How has he raised taxes on people making under $250k already? Please don't mention the cigarette tax. I actually saw my taxes LOWERED in my paycheck. Please explain, with sources. Thanks."
Another sheep that has gone hook, line & sinker for the Obamuh bait. The extra $25/week or whatever that was is a CREDIT, not a tax cut. Your bracket has not been adjusted, and everyone will be paying the total amount back in 2010. So much for your theory...
Please, people do your research. Don't just be blind followers of this empty suit.
slinky317 @ Jul 3rd 2009 11:52AM
@m3tric,
I never said that the taxes in my paycheck was a tax cut. I said it was lowered - and whether those were just a credit OR a cut, the taxes in my paycheck were indeed lowered. Stop over-reading my words.
What I'm asking for is a simple source. Bondsbw said that Obama has ALREADY RAISED taxes on families making less than $250k. All I ask for is a source, and all he can provide is things about electric utilities and oil possibly raising in the FUTURE - which aren't even taxes, and also haven't even happened anyway like he claims. The only thing people stick by is that stupid cigarette tax, which was not a tax on the middle class but on cigarettes. Believe it or not, they are a luxury and no one is forced to buy them, unlike paying income or property taxes.

According to an article in the Washington Post last week, a strategy is taking shape in the White House that would authorize indefinite detention -- not through legislation, but with a presidentially signed executive order. And just hours ago, the president's press secretary said they would now go through Congress. One thing is clear: the Obama administration is seeking the power to indefinitely detain individuals without charge or trial.
What is also clear is that whether through executive order or legislation, indefinite detention is un-American.
You and I have to respectfully urge the President to make sure that idea never sees the light of day.

I, for one, welcome our healthcare reforming, recession battling overlords.
benny boy @ Jul 3rd 2009 6:32PM
I'm English and I don't understand America's fear of nationalised healthcare. We have had it since the 1950's and there would be a huge revolt against the government if they were to disband it now. The standard is the same if not better than the US and no-one is turned away. Just to hear about all the problems you have with health insurance etc. is ridiculous.
If you break a limb for example, just walk into ER anytime, wait for an hour or less, get some x-rays and a plaster cast and walk out when you're done. You don't get any money out or even fill in any forms. Surely life would be easier and less stressful. And if they raise taxes, the increase will just replace the price of health insurance won't it as the government wouldn't even be looking for a profit.
n_shakuras @ Jul 3rd 2009 6:38PM
"the government wouldn't even be looking for a profit."

Nohone @ Jul 3rd 2009 8:15PM
Benny, first read some of these horror stories about GB health care at http://www.liberty-page.com/issues/healthcare/socialized.html
Then there are stories about Canada sends their patients (a politician non the less) to the US for better health care: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/news/1896431/posts?page=1
I also have a friend in Canada who has been on a waiting list for 6 years to have a torn ACL repaired.
And those are only a few stories. I have not been to the doctor in years because I never get more than a small sniffle here and there. Why should I pay a huge amount in tax increases for a service that I am not using - especially when a few months ago there was a news article where 3 people were responsible for 1000+ emergency room visits in just 2 months for very minor issues (hangnails, etc)? Why should I pay for those people who abuse the system?
Our health care system is broken, no doubt about it. But the root of those problems, the litigious nature surrounding health care and the pharmaceutical industry, were caused by the government (because the politicians and trial lawyers go hand-in-hand, and the over restrictive regulation on meds). But under government rule, when there is a true reason to sue over a failure from a doctor, such as a few years ago when a doctor stiched his initials into a patient, you will not be able to.
We have a tradition here of keeping the government out of our lives. Now we have a president who is trying to insert himself into one of the most private parts of our personal lives - our health care. It is interesting how our current president has one of the most liberal polices towards abortion (I am not saying I agree or disagree with abortion, it is outside the scope of this discussion) because he believes government should keep hands off of a woman's reprodctive life, but when it comes to government controlling the totality of a person's health care, he is all for it. Allowing the governemnt to decide my health care, not my doctor (if I had one) and myself is something I am not too happy about.
jitters333 @ Jul 4th 2009 12:30AM

Yeah you don't have 10,000 illegals swimming/jumping/running over to your country every DAY, and using the health care that I... I Pay for! and if you go into an ER you'll see on a regular bases of 30 mexicans in the ER at a time, and I live in a northern part of the US. Plus I don't even use the ER, much less have a doctor, the only reasons I go is because of my grandmother who is frequently going. this crap is gay I Hate people who leach, they should contribute to the community and work or leave, not get fat and use food stamps/healthcare I pay for. I'm getting back on here late, but for anyone truly interested...
I never said Obama already raised taxes on people. I said this: "President Obama has already BROKEN HIS WORD about not raising taxes on anyone making under $250K."
In other words, he and his administration has taken steps in the direction of higher taxes. Obviously, Congress must actually pass the legislation first; then it's on Obama's desk and signed in time for lunch.
