Apple blames hot iPhones on the weather, others find oleophobic screen to be fleeting?

Meanwhile, hapless Samsas Traum has found a problem of his own (pictured) that's sure to be blamed on some other act of god in the near future by Apple's spin team: the oleophobic coating is getting rubbed right off his screen. Apparently he has a bit of a fondness for a certain "Flick Fishing" app, which explains the highly localized nature of his oleophobic destruction. We haven't heard many other reports of a similar nature, but we'll keep an eye out for telltale Tap Tap Revenge markings on the iPhones of our rhythm-addled loved ones.
[Thanks, Rafa]

Don't blame it on the sunshine, don't blame it on the moonlight, don't blame it on the good times. Blame it on the boogie!
Wow, I remember seeing all those pics of the the MacBook batteries burning, and now the phones are doing the same thing. Sounds like Apple has know about the problem for a couple of years. You think that they would design the phones to have removable battries like normal phones, and release something that works right. Oh yeah, why is this the 3 generation of Iphone that finally gets cut and paste, would you want that for a phone?
I did this last night. Accidentally.
I'd got the OS 3.0 GM from a torrent site and got it installed a few days ago. As this is prior to yesterday's official O2 UK turn on of MMS I'd found the hacked ipcc carrier file and installed it on the phone, and low and behold MMS started working. Also tethering, it would appear - an en6 ethernet interface appeared on my Mac last night whilst synching my iPhone which I set to DHCP and forgot about, and then noticed the phone was in blue text tethering mode.
I also noticed that the O2 website states you need to pay them 15 UKP a month for 3GB of tethering, which I haven't signed up for.
Wonder if I'll get billed?
So that's why when my car was on fire and I tried the "Fire Extinguisher" app the car just kept burning?
Maybe I have to throw the phone at the fire after I use the "Fire Extinguisher" app. Or maybe I used the "Spontaneous Combustion" app accidentally.
I guess now I'll just have to move to Siberia to use my beloved iphone.
Oh wait that won't work because it's too cold there too.
Maybe I'll just leave it at home and use it in a climate controlled area only.
Then I can get a Blackberry.
Like Milli Vanilli said "Blame It On The Rain."
My iPhone 3G S does get surprisingly warm (on the back), but so far no discoloration or any other issues. I can't compare it to the previous iPhones as this is the first I've used. Previously I had a 1st gen iPod Touch, which definitely didn't get warm like this. I'm not sure if it is really likely to cause a problem, but I'll obviously be keeping an eye on it....
I have the a 3GS and i had a 3G, both get hot. But not hot enough to do what the picture shows. These pictures look totally fake. Looks like someone put a lighter to the screen and left it there for hours. Just my 2cents.
Yah because nothing made by Apple has EVER had problems before. NEVER.
Apple: Different decade, same BS.
Wow the mac-haters are out in full force, must be a slow news day for Microsoft. I guess their non apple products are just so inferior that they need to bash Apple. So we have 1 phone white phone heated up and turned brown and 1 phone of an obsessive fishing fetish owner tearing up his screen out of half a million phones and that equates to every product Apple produces to be problematic? Wow you haters are so delusional with blind hatred.
Apple needs to man up and take responsibility. You sell fucked up devices, recall them. Where the hell is Paul Chapelle to defend this Apple shit? Probably somewhere underneath a bridge in Cupertino or in his mother's basement.
Apple: But your phone becoming a hot plate is a feature that adds value. By the way, our accounting department is charging your credit card $30 because we turned on the feature after you bought the phone.
I am thinking of purchasing the Iphone 3gs but can not decide on which one to get 32gb or 16gb. Any comment on this issue? Also how bad is the battery life?
