We don't know about anyone else, but we've been waiting on
LG's GD910 ever since we first heard about it way back around CES. We've already heard that the watch / phone-loving combo would hit shelves
sometime in July (that's now) in Europe, but it looks like it's going to be more like August -- at least in the UK.
T3 says they've confirmed this with Orange (the GD910's exclusive carrier), and though the price remains unspecified, we're expecting it to cost
somewhere between $1,000 and way-more-than-you-should-spend. We're not going to bother with the requisite Dick Tracy comments this time (though we'll freely admit we're somehow fond of the Warren Beatty disaster), but hit the read link for fuller details.
I would be interested in this if it wasnt on Orange and didnt cost £1000+ on contract.
Even if I had the money to buy that I wouldn't, for it is laaaaaaameeeeeeeeeee.
you forgot a few extra mmmms in lame
Once again the US is behind the technological 8-ball to that of UK and the rest of Europe. We have no tethering and now no watch phone -_-
So when do the Hong Kong knock off's come out...I bet half the price..
@ Marco
Dealextreme.com has had these for about 2 to 2 1/2 years. Triband GSM phone much more reasonably price (~$140 US currency) if you want to flirt with one of these devices. This one is touch screen and plays MP3s. Check out link (http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13059~r.34808797).
Speak for yourself ctgaffney(presumably an iPhone owner).
I've been tethering using WMWiFiRouter on WinMo (even the included Internet Sharing will do the trick) for over a year now.
Not only can I tether (for FREE mind you, I don't even have to pay for a separate PAM plan using WinMo hacks), but I can also turn my phone into a wireless router.
Anyone with my encryption key can then connect to my phone and also use it as a router for tethering.
So now you can look like a secret agent when your talking into your wrist.
Did I say secret agent? I meant prat.
It's funny how social fashions change. It use to be that if you were seen walking down the street talking to yourself that you were considered crazy; now-a-days with wireless headsets and all, it's completely normal.
if don't care about functionality or battery life and just want a phone watch for under $150 should check this link out:

I think you should leave those for the next "Keeping it Real Fake" article.
except these where around way before any big brands even thought about making one.
Thanks
When did these ever seem a good idea?
and at £1000+?
And what is folks debuting there phones over here?
I know I am a nerd in heart. But I try not to look like one in public. Wearing one of these phones/watches will definitely ruin all my previous effort.
Yep, the SSD is only beginning and I suspect this time next year, all new computers will have them at little if any upgraded costs.

Anyone remember the Motorola pager watch? It was dope. I had service through Verizon back in 1998. I think a watch or wrist phone is a great idea and will eventually catch on as they get smaller and more flexible. Paired with a bluetooth earpiece, this would be great for a traveling business salesman.
Ummmm verizon didnt exist until 2000......
Yep, I would probably come out of my too cool to be geek nature for one of these. Also still waiting for that Star Trek communicator badge...
Put an Apple logo on it and people will kill to get one.
So I have to either wear my bluetooth on my ear all the time (I refuse to be one of THOSE guys) or talk into my wrist like James Bond when I get a call?
Nice idea but I'm out.
I guess at the moment they figure they can make the most money buy only selling them to the rich-dick-who-wants-to-show-it-of-at-the-golf-course market. Give it 12 months and it'll be free with a contract.
How about a SWATCHPhone?
I refuse to call these watchphones, does that mean existing mobile phones should be called alarmclockphones?! It is simply a really crappy phone with a strap on it. endof
i will only be excited when i see a little bit more innovation involved than tying a phone to your wrist.
Hey Jobs, let's put a Rolex watch on iPod Shuffle and call it iWatch. No?
Did LG ever show how to write a text message on this gadget? With a normal touch screen and a stylus it could work but with your fingers on a 1.4"-capacitive touch screen? I bet it will be close to unusable for text messaging. They really shouldn't have used a capacitive touch screen, but of course everyone has to copy the technology Apple uses in its iPhone, even if it means that you have to switch off your brain...
It has speech to text.
Apple wasnt the first to use capacitive touch screens. Just so you know. Fanboys like yourself should just die.
But now that Apple uses it, everyone else has to as well, whether it's a good idea or not.
....I got one that looks just like this out of japan last year, and works fine, and looks like it has all the options thia one has, and i paid 199.00 i just were it on the weekends, and like i say, works fine, just like a handheld......Hmmmmmm looka like a 1, 200 dollar rip off 2 me...

The LG GD910 watchphone is vey cool, but IMO the watch phone is not very comfort for calling and watch email.
I hope it doesn´t get as hot as an 3GS, that would cause serious discomfort on your wrist. I guess my interest mainly depends on the price and how it looks when you´re not calling. I love to travel light and I use my phone to be reachable (I only make make a couple of calls a month) so I like the prospect of not having to carry a phone around.
i get watch phone is only 114usd here http://www.cnwholesale.org
Why not buy a kirf watch phone?
They have some at solomobi.com
Ofcouse theyre not as cool but way cheaper.
like 120$
I think that these phone watches sync'd with a blue-tooth headset would be perfect. As for the video, until there is a standard for video phone calling across all video calling hardware, well the point is moot.
