Video: Trace of Time clock erases tasks as deadlines pass
Pictured above is one of the most genius adaptations of the so-called "clock" that we've ever seen, and while the concept has been around for a tick, Il-Gu Cha's masterpiece is just now making its way around the expo circuit and showing itself off in a new video. Dubbed Trace of Time, this eraser-equipped timepiece is constructed primarily from glass and wipes away Dry Erase tasks as those deadlines slip away. Sure, the inability to hit the snooze on certain items could prove aggravating, but it's safe to say this is a bona fide procrastination killer at the very least. Peek the video just past the break.

awesome yet so stupid
chanmanplanet @ Jul 6th 2009 10:19AM
is there a mode for procrastinators? like when the hand detects unfinished task it automatically backs itself up 10-15 or so? that would awesome for me!
Jakob @ Jul 6th 2009 10:42AM
Hmm the video is stupid (I catched the idea after one minute;), otherwise genius concept!
Don @ Jul 6th 2009 11:09AM
nice idea, waiting to see version 2 though..
Why does the hour hand stop when he starts to write?
Or was that the minute hand????
acme @ Jul 6th 2009 11:54AM
because he doesn't take an hour to write things down
loocas @ Jul 6th 2009 12:35PM
Also, why do they keep on drawing those steaming-asses signs? o_O
cWj @ Jul 6th 2009 9:10PM
the procrastination version comes without a battery door.
monkfishbandana @ Jul 6th 2009 9:59AM
Loving the Sims-style music.
Muhammad-Oli @ Jul 6th 2009 10:00AM
Haha it would suck if you forgot what you had to do ten minutes ago.
loci @ Jul 6th 2009 10:24AM
that's why its a good incentive to get things done before its wiped....i think its genius
NickNick @ Jul 6th 2009 10:03AM
This is win! Yes?
agroupofletters @ Jul 6th 2009 10:13AM
this is serious win.
Adderz @ Jul 6th 2009 10:13AM
This idea is incredibly simple yet incredibly stupid at the same time, awesome!
People have had whiteboards for years, and they are preferable because they self erase themselves if youve decided to put something off etc etc
jim @ Jul 7th 2009 3:24AM
Umm...use wet erase markers?
GingerFox @ Jul 6th 2009 10:13AM
Novel i guess
georgeschwartzjr @ Jul 6th 2009 10:19AM
What if you're late? You go back to the clock to see what you had to do and BAM its gone. This thing is useless for those of us with no short term memory and a habit of being late. :-/
I propose they make a touch sensitive LCD version in order to implement an Undo feature.
Denver_80203 @ Jul 6th 2009 10:31AM
I call it motivational. Use it or lose it. Folks who are late to meetings are as good as erased from the conversation.
NeoJew @ Jul 6th 2009 11:36AM
I have no sympathy for the late.
Mic2000 @ Jul 6th 2009 10:20AM
The clock stops when the people are standing in front of it, sweet
Demios @ Jul 6th 2009 10:32AM
Someone is getting laid at 8pm tonight.
Nathan dalton @ Jul 6th 2009 11:02AM
I thought that was a symbol for passing gas. Depending on what was eaten for dinner, 8 o'clock could be the perfect time for that.
Verythrax @ Jul 6th 2009 10:34AM
and if I have something for the other half of the day, or tomorrow?
J @ Jul 6th 2009 10:39AM
I prefer to think of this as made for procrastinators.
"Deadline? What deadline?
giuliop @ Jul 6th 2009 10:53AM
I like when my tasks get done even if I didn't do them.
CaptSaltyJack @ Jul 6th 2009 11:10AM
TRACE OF THE TIME. PLEASE YOU LIKE IT THE CLOCK???
Kenaf @ Jul 6th 2009 11:11AM
Do they come in a smaller size, and where do I get one?
Pingles @ Jul 6th 2009 11:30AM
The way that the word "genius" is used in that first sentence drives me crazy.
PDubNYC @ Jul 6th 2009 12:05PM
The way people overuse the word "genius" in general annoys the crap out of me. Strips meaning from the things in life truly deserving of such praise.
Glenn Tobey @ Jul 6th 2009 11:45AM
Ok to the people who are like "Oh the clock stops when you write on it" or "Is that the minute or hour hand" It's a clock with just a hour hand and it's a time lapse video and when it detects the motion of people it start capturing video at say 30 fps instead of 6 f/hour.
Gosh.
Mak @ Jul 6th 2009 1:18PM
I prefer retro

Great clock! Also, anyone here the "Land of Chocolate" in the background music?
JTork @ Jul 6th 2009 1:23PM
the music sells me on it.
10minutehobo @ Jul 6th 2009 2:32PM
See, I didn't miss a thing!
Richard @ Jul 6th 2009 3:06PM
Great idea, but fails dramatically when you are running late, or busy at one task and it wipes of your next task with you possibly forgetting what it is.
Garst @ Jul 6th 2009 4:01PM
This is not a good idea. Try to explain to a client why you forgot to call:
"I know I won't it down to call you somewhere...oh, I remember. I wrote it on the clock but the clock erased it."
And seriously, who wants to keep looking at the clock all day at work? That clock is a torture device!
SillyHat @ Jul 6th 2009 4:49PM
How about using your brain for a change?
ED @ Jul 6th 2009 6:46PM
a real procrastination killer would have a light sensor rather than an eraser, and if it detects a certain amount of ink remaining at the present time, it detonates.
ED @ Jul 6th 2009 6:47PM
Did I say 'detonates'? I meant 'releases neurotoxin'. Much safer.
William Su @ Jul 6th 2009 9:33PM
omg why didnt we think of this years ago
Fizz @ Jul 6th 2009 10:32PM
I like this idea, so simple yet functional. Although i wouldn't buy it. I'd rather stick to my usual clock and use my iPhone for appointments :)
JohnTech @ Jul 6th 2009 11:36PM
It would be cool if it was in pie chart form, that way you could also see how long something lasts and when you have free time in between meetings/tasks.
Mark @ Jul 7th 2009 12:33AM
I can only guess what the "♥" meant.
Cornholio @ Jul 7th 2009 7:27AM
It meant "buy more lube"
