We can attest that
Howard Stringer, CEO of Sony, is a pretty nice guy. But all the PS3 price-cut chatter from
industry analysts and
gaming execs seems to have the man riled as he
tries to keep Sony afloat. Responding directly to Robert Kotick's
threat to stop developing Activision titles on the PS3 (and PSP) due to the console's relative high price, Stringer told
Reuters, "He likes to make a lot of noise. He's putting pressure on me and I'm putting pressure on him. That's the nature of business." When asked about the logic of
not cutting prices, Howard said, "I (would) lose money on every PlayStation I make -- how's that for logic." True, until the
45nm Cell processor launches allowing for a cheaper, cooler running
slim PS3 later this year, right Howie... wink, wink?

If this came from a company not packing stores with $100 plastic instruments and skateboards I'd give them more credence about being considerate about prices.
Agreed. I was in best buy the other day and realized there was an entire wall of huge guitar hero boxes. Stupid.
Sorta odd that Sony doesn't actually get to set the prices Harmonix asks for their products... I love blaming people for things that aren't in their control. Do you ever get a parking ticket and blame Afghanistan 'cause of how much it cost? Also I notice that the games cost the same for all 3 next-gen systems.
@BobSpaceTech
Everyone on this board is now dumber for having read that comment
I award you a thumbs down, and my god have mercy on your soul
I play Gears of War 2 every day, whenever I'm not at work. That alone tells me I made the right decision (there are other exclusive factors as well).
@Kamokazi
I was enjoying lando's and dr's back and forth since they both stating good point but you your is just dumb. Here from average consumer, don't care about halo as well as my plus 20 peeps i know who owns a ps3, love going online on their tv screen without paying a fee, love having a blu ray player, love camera chatting with peeps from other countries (like i talk to my moms in the states) for free. Oh and average consumer do buy overprice product since they do work and are able to pay what they want not what you tell them to.
@ coolblue
"In fact I did a blind test with some friends and showed them spiderman2 in both upscaled dvd and bluray and they could not tell the difference"
You must not be getting full 1080p with your Blu-rays. I did the same test when i first got my 47LG70 HDTV and almost cried. Put in "The Dark Night" (with a 120hz or 240hz HDTV) and you will vomit. There is a HUGE difference.
Sony has already waited too long to make their price cut, Microsoft is just waiting for them to cut the price so they can announce another Xbox 360 price cut which will basically leave Sony in the same spot they are in now.
