Trimble Outdoors app will make an adventurer out of your T-Mobile G1

Trimble may make plenty of GPS-equipped devices of its own aimed at adventure-minded folks, but its Trimble Outdoors software has also made quite a few cellphones a bit more outdoors-friendly, and it's now finally found its way to the T-Mobile G1. As with on some other phones, the app will let you plan your trip online and sync it up with your G1, and give you the ability to geotag pictures, log your trip and share it with others, take text and audio notes and, of course, simply use it as a full-fledged GPS navigator. That won't come free, of course, but the $19.99 app price sure is a good deal cheaper than a separate outdoors GPS device, and you can grab it right now from Android Market.

is there a subscription price? if not, 20 bucks isn't bad for GPS with that many features
Trimble Outdoors is now available for download on the T-Mobile G1 through the Android Market and Trimble Outdoors Web site at www.trimbleoutdoors.com/go/g1. For the first 30 days, the application is available at an introductory cost of $19.99.
From as far as I can tell its a 1 time price.
ya after 1 hour of usage the battery dies leaving you stranded right?
NO, I got a whole 37 seconds! (this post is brought to you by the letters S, A, R, C, A, S, A, and M.)
what's sarcasam?
Yeah...I wouldn't use my G1 for a weekend outing.
You'll be stranded without a working phone by the afternoon on the first day.
I'm not a fan of this OTA bs. Waiting for real mapping software for the G1...
Try Copilot for Android...I installed it this past weekend and its pretty amazing..
Trimble makes good software. I used a trimble device primarily on the research I was doing this summer. I can say that I've had a better experience with trimble products than I've had with topcon or other high end geospatial products. I would be getting this if I had a G1.
And for people who can't/won't pay $20 for a mobile application, Google's My Tracks plus GeoBeagle can do almost the all the same stuff.
(For free!)
Oh, so it's like the free iPhone app Everytrail.
