Video: TAT's augmented reality concept unveiled

You remember TAT, right? Amongst other things The Astonishing Tribe has done some bang-up work with the user interface for the G1, unveiled a pretty impressive 3D eye-tracking concept, and now they're hard at work developing something called Augmented ID, an augmented reality concept that uses facial recognition software to attach your visage to a profile. When someone views you through their handset's camera, pre-selected info and social networking links appear to hover around you, letting your new found friend in on more than just your pretty smile. Of course, this is only a concept at the present moment, but when it does become real, make sure you remember to remove those links to JDate and the Cracked Magazine forums before that important corporate presentation. Trust us -- you don't want those worlds colliding. Hit up that read link for the latest from the Swedish design team, but not before you peep this stellar video after the break.

has anyone else watched "Eden of the East"?
Yup. The Eden System... woooh!
I thought the same thing when I saw this!
Yup, Project Eden.
Now if the carbon markets come out, then we have Shangri-La.
Imagine TAT.
TAT looks interesting.
When will we be able to experience TAT for ourselves?
Funny.
I want to see some software from the lesser known team, The Wonderfully Astonishing Tribe .
What is TAT and where can i trade it for the other thing?
i'd rather have TIT than TAT.
Or you can do it the old fashion way and ask for it instead of being a creepy stalker....
thats what i was thinking...
but it would be cool if this was like in contacts so it pops up on your own person HUD (I'm thinking of Deus Ex or System Shock) haha.
Not interesting.
Oh come on. It would be worth it just to see the JDate sign actually pop up.
"how many girls did you take pictures of last night?"
"like 13 dude!!"
"hell yea!! lets hit those hoes up!"
might be easier to just ask the info and input it but its cool technology, just dont know how useful it actually is, not to mention awkwardly holding your phone up to scan someone
it will be useful when trying to stop a massive missile attack.
nice ;)
Points finger..... BANG!
But can TAT tell the difference between twins or a guy with a mask....hmm
Like, can anyone?
Heh... at 1:25, "Watching a TAT presentation" suddenly changes to "Thinking about summer vacation"...
Presenters (and college professors) are gonna love this view into what their audience is really thinking about!
Clubbin' like it's 1999.
You know since TAT are Swedes and also SonyEricssons dev is located in Lund I bet you that the phone cluttered with duct tape is the new SE Xperia Android coming out .. or some beta phone
if they could get that in a contact lense i'd be impressed.
This is kind of scary, but it seems most are missing the implications of this. For this to work there has to be a facial recognition data base. Wouldn't this tech mean anyone can find you anywhere at any time? It's getting a little to 1984 in here. It's not just secrete government plots that you'd have to worry about. Lets say you are a young woman out on the town and you've had a few too many. Some serial killer with this app on his phone jsut scans your face from across the bar and suddenly has entirely too much info that he uses to convince your drunk as* that he knows you. You let him drive you home because he says you are too drunk to drive. Bam you wake up dead and dismembered. This is so not COOL! There is a reason your parents told you not to talk to strangers, now we are going to give strangers a tool to appear to not be strangers at all. Stupid Europeans, I guess it's chic to be a creepy stalker killer type over there now days.
Do try it. I have a daughter it's my job to worry about how this could be used for nefarious deeds. So you can drop backspace your comments about my paranoia before you even start.
Wake up dead... is funny. The rest of the story isn't.
You don`t wake up from being dead and dismembered
Where are all the advertisements? The brand and make of his suit and shirt... his tie. The rims for his glasses? Augmented reality is going to be subsidized by advertisers. Everything will have an RFID for the sole purpose of AR tagging.
british goverment has got to scrap this out of date crap!!! id card thing, its being left behind by.......facebook,tat,twitter and god knows who n what else, all i am saying is,its not about silly cards anymore its about software and ......social network .....Big brother is coming .....ah hell ill look at the postive ...is there a postive when future will be a uber powerful jason/ michael myers using smart phones, that can track there prey with gprs, tat equipment,,,,and dont get me started with skynet or shynet ,,,,,that can call up your profile added you to there friends ,before killing you
I love JDate
Lol wow, same thing as the EDEN system thingy from the anime "Eden of the east." Neato...
Weak...motion tracking some video footage in After Effects and dropping in some graphics ≠ amazing UI design.
I tawt I taw a putty TAT
Thank you for visualizing my idea of hell.
Seems quite heavenly to me actually.
For everyone that mentioned Eden of the East. I love that anime. So this is what the next level live action anime will be like? Bring on the Gundams!!!
Can the producers and writers of Eden of the East sue for this?

that's what makes the statement funny. The sheer absurdity of waking up dead and dissmembeted. The person that commented right before you got it, so i wasn't completely off bade thinking people would think the statement was some what funny.
I'm sorry that you didn't get the attempt to lighten the mood of my comment. Sorry that that humor misses you.
SO it's kinda like a Sims action selector. As soon as an app for the Iphone is released for this, then i'll be happy.
Don’t like the idea that you change your profile depending on the audience.
You’ve only got one face so surely only one profile?
Imagine you provide a professional profile for your corporate meeting as they suggest in this video. If one of your meeting attendees then points their Augmented ID at your photo some weeks later after you’ve thrown together a more informal profile for a weekend party they could be in for a shock!
