Former Gizmondo exec Stefan Eriksson gets 1.5 year sentence, movie might now have ending
Will this be the final chapter in the infamous and incredibly entertaining tale of former Gizmondo head Bo Stefan "Fiery Ferrari Crasher" Eriksson? Doubtful, but with any luck it'll serve as a decent thread to wrap up that optioned movie on his life. An Uppsala, Sweden District Court has sentenced the man to 1.5 years in prison for his most recent round of escapades, which include illegal threats, attempted blackmail, and robbery. Assuming he starts jail fairly soon, mark your calendars and place your bets, we're expecting a whole new slew of comical misdeeds to hit the news feeds by March 2011 -- and no, we still don't think a new Gizmondo will be out by then.

He should get at least five for destroying a work of art...

For some reason I'm thinking CraigJ was talking about the Enzo that he wrecked. The Gizmondo was always a piece of shit.
yyan @ Jul 12th 2009 7:39PM
He's talking about the Ferrari Enzo, you dope.
Steven @ Jul 11th 2009 2:53PM
I hope he smuggles in a cell phone. The movie might need a sequel.
skins21 @ Jul 11th 2009 2:57PM
Go Redskins!!!
-like anyone really thought the gizmondo was a good idea (investors lol)
AndrewNoNumbers @ Jul 11th 2009 3:07PM
Was Ryan Block the former Gizmodo exec?
Major4Play @ Jul 11th 2009 3:25PM
former GizmoNdo exec
DanielT @ Jul 11th 2009 3:38PM
"Ryan Block" is one of the many aliases of Bo Stefan Eriksson. Gdgt will soon feature the ability to review items such as powdered eggs and butt plugs.
DeoWulf @ Jul 11th 2009 3:14PM
Every time I first glance at that top picture it looks like he is punching a car into pieces.
Kevin @ Jul 11th 2009 3:18PM
I don't like Gizmodo. I deleted my RSS subscription because the writers are always trying to be so smarmy and wise ass. That's why I like engadget, at least, for now...
drumdbeat @ Jul 11th 2009 3:23PM
Well, that was unrelated. Please note GizmoNdo There is an N in there.
Thomas @ Jul 11th 2009 3:28PM
you're confusing gizmoNdo (the gadget) with gizmodo the blog
Kevin @ Jul 11th 2009 3:32PM
Haha woops.
AndrewNoNumbers @ Jul 11th 2009 3:49PM
"Wise ass"
I like that phrase.
qwack @ Jul 11th 2009 4:01PM
I hate Adam Frucci.
Webber @ Jul 11th 2009 5:04PM
It adds variety, the articles are much less biased (ahem) and thorough (long, deep), they have excellent commenters (Engadget is starting to look like YouTube, even 4chan), an excellent commenting system (no comment, no pun intended), you can fuse all of it's sister sites into one hybrid page (for easy viewing), and about the only thing I really hate is that it includes NSFW posts.
Don @ Jul 11th 2009 7:41PM
wtf is a gizmondo?
Al @ Jul 11th 2009 9:12PM
@webber
gizmodo is over 9000 times more biased than engadget ever will be
Jesus Diaz is perhaps the most idiotic person in the universe
Webber @ Jul 11th 2009 10:45PM
I have to agree about Mr. Diaz. Half, no, ALL the NSFW posts are from him. He contributes nothing to the blog. However, you can't argue with Steve Jobs. When asked which blog he preferred, he said Gizmodo. Look:

Plus, the comments there are actually funny, and their way of banning is hilarious. It's funny to see trolls disemvoweled, even though in my experience they are much less common there. There is no Paul, no iEye, no "You should have gotten an iPod", or "make it an iPhone". The articles here are more concise, less smirking and more informing, with a lot of the articles being non-tech related. However, the news is much less funny than the comments, but I need both, so I go to Engadget for news and to Gizmodo for laughs.

Gizmodo = bunch of dumbass Mactards
drumdbeat @ Jul 11th 2009 3:20PM
My friend has a Gizmondo.
lol
dsteve303 @ Jul 11th 2009 3:22PM
LOL. I think ppl think this is about your sister site Gizmodo.
drumdbeat @ Jul 11th 2009 3:27PM
It is funny. :)
ifalldownstairs @ Jul 11th 2009 3:44PM
sister sites are sites under the same management (engadget - joystiq, gizmodo - kotaku). engadget and gizmodo are competitors, though not nearly as ferociously as a few years ago.
runebune @ Jul 11th 2009 4:37PM
actually are both engadget and gizmodo formed by the guys at gdgt ;)
Major4Play @ Jul 11th 2009 3:27PM
That would still make a boring ass film, sociopaths are only interesting if they DON'T get caught.
freudslipped @ Jul 11th 2009 3:59PM
sociopaths aren't interesting. The disastrous path they thread through other peoples lives is what fascinates the audience.
AJ in the East Bay @ Jul 11th 2009 3:35PM
@ Ross Miller,
Shouldn't it be "Will this be...?" instead of "Well this be...?"

i thought that said gizmodo
peepeepants @ Jul 11th 2009 4:53PM
I can't wait to watch this film!!! Hopefully Whoopie Goldberg plays the lead role. The car that gets totaled could be played by Dolph Lundgren.

"Assuming he starts jail fairly soon, mark your calendars and place your bets, we're expecting a whole new slew of comical misdeeds to hit the news feeds by March 2011."
This guy's going to bounce in and out of jail for the rest of his life. He's either unwilling or incapable of leading a normal life (both being true is highly likely I might add), so soon after being released he's going to return to his old habits followed by getting caught, coz he's too dense to stay very far ahead of the law.
No, Stefan's not a mastermind criminal, he's a plodding, bullheaded thuggish stooge type criminal, and his idea of a modus operandi extends no further than the grown-up equivalent of beating classmates up and stealing their lunch money...
strider_mt2k @ Jul 11th 2009 9:56PM
SO much history here on the tech blogs.
The best reading has here and over at Gizmodo over the years.
GOOD TIMES, PEOPLE!
Gert @ Jul 12th 2009 3:48AM
Don't give him a Ferrari Enzo.
He'll crash it in two pieces and claim another stranger was driving the car.
Then the police will find a loaded clip minus two bullets and he'll say that the stranger crashed the car en then ran off with the gun and two bullets.
That was an endlessly entertaining story. Someone should write a book about these things.
Al Bundy @ Jul 12th 2009 12:18PM
wrong company, strider_mt2k. lol. Stefan should practice on his buttplug tho...cus you dont want a bad husband in prison. and speaking of which, is prison like disneyland for bruno and his type?
MZLweasel @ Jul 12th 2009 8:41PM
I just read that article twice, both times reading "Gizmondo" as "Gizmodo".
Hehe... Heh.. He...... xP

Thats it? 1.5 years for all that organized crime, swedish hookers, stolen ferraris, and now he will get a movie? Looks like crime pays...
