We're pretty much assuming this video of a purportedly "stolen" PS3 slim at a street market in the Philippines is fake, but given the
mounting pile of evidence and Sony's
other recent leaks, we feel compelled to share it with you. Nothing particularly amazing here -- it's a blurry video of a black plastic box with that new rounded-off logo style from
the PSPgo on it -- but if it's real it's certainly interesting. So, what say you -- KIRF, or the real deal?
Update: So this video was originally posted in the
PS3 News forums, along with the nicer high-res pic above, which pretty much matches the box art we've seen. Anyone changing their minds?
[Thanks, Khattab]
most likely a mockup. i don't think sony would go for a matte finish cuz both the current ps3 (2006 - current) and the psp 2000/3000 are using the glossy finish.
Blah that is one ugly console.
Im from the philippines and I have personally handled this particular product. Its REAL! Its got some filipino writing on its bar code that says Genuine PS3 Slim so it must be real. It plays Mario Kart in 1080p quite fast..Its so clear I can see Mario's abs. Right next to this product is the next gen iPod touch with a 12 megapixel camera that has an aps-c sensor and interchageable pancake lenses..really cool. I bought one of each and put it in a plastic bag..these new stuff are very normal to us. I'll post hi res photo here later using my Nikon medium format D4.
the sarcasm... its.. too.... strong....
Looks like a PS2 with PS3 dremeled on a new lid.
If it is real... why would they film it like a 4 stoned 4 year old with parkinsons?
You're right Dond! I actually do blog from my mom's laptop! How did you know???
Surely there must be someone that leaves near the Philippines, we could then get them to check this fully out.
How many times Mr Blurry Cam has to prove to you lot that he's always right!?
This an ESd, they're just holding it upside-down! Lol, just speculation.
I remember hearing of "!!M' a while back, though I don't remember if it was a KIRF or if Nintendo trademarked it to keep people from using it.
Unfortunately, !!M isn't Google-friendly so I have no link for you.
If those boxes that Engadget showed before are real, this is real, too. The device is exactly the same.
i wouldnt be surprised if this is real. electronics from the philippines are usually only fake on the inside but the outer shell is usually legit
hence the crap camera. probably a modern camera/phone with cheap insides
places in the philippines like this are usually cramped/crowded so you probably wouldnt be able to get the best view in the world (although this is pretty bad)
i am a strong believer in rumors, and i for one think this is real, just watch. this will be the final PS3 we are seeing sometime this year, just MARK MY WORDS.
if Sony did the same thing with the ps2 why not the ps3!
i think its real theres no real benefit in this video if your not trying to sell them over the net or whatnot and if it was fake in a real shop no way youd be stupid enough to buy it without asking for a demo(he takes it out of the box just fine)
since my PS3 YLOD on me which i fixed and then yesterday i decided to step up to patch 2.8 after fixing it(i played for a good 3 hours) the damn thing has suddenly had a update error that has locked it into a update loop everytime its powered up
I like my PS3 fat and sexy.
It's the real PS3 slim. I call "Fake" on those who said this was fake.
no point asking if its real now .. its being sold in stores!
