Samsung's SyncMaster 80 series LCD monitor stands above the rest

It's a simple idea, sure, and it's far from new, but putting an LCD on a telescoping mount offers incredible convenience. As such, this Samsung SyncMaster 80 series professional LCD monitor allows for a more natural secondary display perched directly above your open netbook or can be spun into a portrait orientation for those looking to go vertical. The 80's are available in either 20- (F2080) or 23-inch (F2380) configurations offering a 3000:1 contrast ratio, 178-degree viewing angle, narrow 15-mm bezel, and cover nearly 100% of the RGB color space. Priced in Korea at ₩378,000 (about $287) and ₩457,000 (about $347) when released later this month. See the Sammy pulled into a frontside vert after the break.

nothing sells monitor better than an under-aged model hiking up her skirt
AlCapa @ Jul 14th 2009 4:37AM
All the new LCDs that launch seem pretty repetitive and so do the models. However, the article is worth it anyway, thanks to the hot asian models.

@lettco
she's older than she actually looks, look @ pict #2. for 1 thing maybe she doesn't stay-up late and probably eats rice and bbq maybe that's why she looks young.

Samsung is slipping on the quality of their Product Waifs. I've come to expect better from them.

...she made that tv stand on end!...

"Priced in Korea at ₩378,000 (about $287) or ₩457,000 (about $347) when release later this month."
I'm not sure that's making any sense, priced at one price tag, then another when its released? I know its suppose to be for the 20 inch, and the 23 inch, but that doesn't make sense to me. Shouldn't it be like, "Both are priced at ₩378,000 (about $287), and ₩457,000 (about $347) respectively when released later this month."
holy_moly112 @ Jul 14th 2009 3:40AM
All in all, that monitor looks very sexy lol
mynk @ Jul 14th 2009 3:56AM
one's for the tv one's for the girl.
Shenanigans @ Jul 14th 2009 9:28AM
Or smaller pricing is for 20" and larger price is for 23". It's just a poorly worded sentence.
Beer_Linux_FTW @ Jul 14th 2009 3:50AM
SAUCE! ON THE LOLI!! who is dis hawt little sushi dish!
lawyer bird @ Jul 14th 2009 4:27AM
Wow, haven't seen any really cute product girls for awhile...and she may be scraping the bottom of the barrel.
Kelmon @ Jul 14th 2009 4:36AM
One to keep an eye on as I am looking for a reasonable priced monitor to use for photographic work but I don't want to spend the relative fortunes that the likes of Eizo, LaCie and NEC charge for their professional displays since this is only a hobby for me.
Cogito @ Jul 14th 2009 4:57AM
Since I was struggling with this same issue some time ago, I can tell you you might want to look into the Dell Ultrasharp WFP2408: It being a VA panel, I found it's colour reproduction to be more than satisfactory for all the photoshopping I've been doing in my spare time. However, it's price might be a bit steep compared to TN-panels.
Kelmon @ Jul 14th 2009 5:33AM
I can live with that price since it's still about half the cost of the usual professional displays. The DisplayPort interface will come in useful, that's for sure. Anyway, cheers for the recommendation - I'll certainly bare the Dell in mind.
ss188 @ Jul 14th 2009 5:03AM
Resolution?!?!?!?! Without this its like shooting blanks or something.
isotrex @ Jul 14th 2009 7:19AM
amen to that! we need specs on the resolution too.
Taylor @ Jul 15th 2009 2:48PM
Considering the price it's a 1920 * 1080 HD monitor that is one of those super-wide wide screens.
drill @ Jul 14th 2009 6:19AM
Well I know something of MINE is standing above the rest...
... yes I'm easily excited :|
Mik @ Jul 14th 2009 8:18AM
These Samsungs are also PVA panels (not TN), which is kind of important to mention too.
JayC @ Jul 14th 2009 9:30AM
These are TN panels?
yokel @ Jul 14th 2009 9:46AM
178 degree viewing angles so it's probably VA
Mothlem @ Jul 14th 2009 9:36AM
i would pick samsung at anytime i've tried sony,lg and samsung LCD and i think SAMUNG Is the best
boe @ Jul 14th 2009 9:43AM
When I see 80 in the name of a panel it better be 80 f'n inches. What a cheap attempt to get my attention! Numbers in a product name better be the year it is released e.g. 09 or the size of it. It would make it easy to look at a list and pick what model you might be interested in finding out more about.
Richard Glitter @ Jul 14th 2009 9:43PM
Right, because it's reasonable to expect a desktop LCD to be 80 inches.
David Roberts @ Jul 14th 2009 5:18PM
I wish I could own one of these!
MrBoJangles @ Jul 14th 2009 10:08AM
Remember in Rush Hour 2 when Carter and Lee went to that massage parlor and got to pick from those girls. Nice!

My Dell monitor does the same thing, but is not so awesome, wide, or clear. In fact, a lot of what holds me back from buying a new monitor is the whole telescoping thing. My Dell can grow tall enough that it will stand above my laptop's screen.
VampireHunter Z @ Jul 14th 2009 11:37AM
This monitor is a photographers dream come true. No need to view portrait pictures in a landscape view (or turn horizontally to view pictures).
Richard Glitter @ Jul 14th 2009 9:43PM
Many companies have been making panels that do this for many years. This is nothing new. I'm sitting in front of a Dell Ultrasharp 2001FP right now that was manufactured in 2004 that both telescopes up and down and rotates to portrait.
Hex Trope @ Jul 14th 2009 11:54AM
What is this RGB color space you're referring to? Is this sRGB, NTSC, Adobe RGB?
NoobSlayer @ Jul 14th 2009 12:21PM
i would so bukkake her
Eraser @ Jul 14th 2009 1:29PM
we're missing some key info here.
resolution? 16:10 or 16:9?
if it's 16:9 i'm not touching it with a 10 foot pole. i don't get the fascination with 16:9 in monitors. it's way too cramped for practical use.
JAMF @ Jul 14th 2009 1:47PM

Ew. 16:9
wtf is up with this 16:9 obsession.
Richard Glitter @ Jul 14th 2009 9:49PM
There is no reason in the entire world that a 23" monitor should only have 1080 vertical pixels. This should be 1200. I was going to buy this monitor until I saw that failure.
Ma2T @ Jul 14th 2009 2:27PM
Both of these Monitors have been available for some time now in the U.S. http://www.hdtvlounge.net/samsung/f2380-f2080/
The 20-inch goes for $259.99 while the 23-inch $349.99.
