I don't see how this prevents any identity theft at all. The website still must have those numbers in order to charge you, so the only thing it protects is you from seeing your own card #. It may protect from keylogging, but def. not phishing.

I agree...Most stolen cc# are not stolen while the card info is being transmitted. Most #s are stolen by the the card owner giving the info to the wrong people or the numbers are stolen from the database of the online store. This device doesn't really add any more security than normal. It only adds the convenience of not having to type the info in to a webpage.
Well, maybe the SmartSwipe will prevent you from entering your credit card number into sketchy sites, since it's already replacing knowledge of basic security.
