Windows 7 pre-orders begin in UK, selling out fast
If you're hoping to get in on discounted pre-order pricing for Windows 7 in the UK then you'd best get to clicking, son. We're hearing that copies of the £50 Windows 7 Home Premium E are already sold-out on Amazon but still available at Play.com, for example. Stocks of Windows 7 Professional E look plentiful at £100, for the time being anyway. While the offer is scheduled to go until August 9th, it's limited to some magical quantity known only to Microsoft and its retailers. If you're still on the fence remember, Japan completely sold-out in just a few days.
Update: Whoa, and now Windows 7 Home Premium E is back on Amazon.

Just picked up Home Premium from Play.com...not many options still out there though...
The only reason this is selling out is because Vista sucks so bad people want an alternative
No.. The only reason it's selling out is because they are selling it cheap, and it's limited availability. I bought a copy for a game rig I'm not going to be even building for over a year.
Expect press releases from MS about the huge demand for 7 with stocks selling out in hours, while not disclosing the numbers. And in October, these will be lumped in with the sales figures for the free Vista-7 upgrade coupons and the pre installs. So I would be very sceptical about Microsoft's announcements of the first quarter's sales.
Amazon and eBuyer sold out. Play have Home Premium at £79.99, recovering an extra £20? 07h55 on 16 July.
PC World guys. still at £45 + £5 delivery
Darn it. Have been trying Pro from Amazon since yesterday but all sold out. They seem to be the only ones who would ship to Ireland. Come on MS why was there no retailer for Ireland?
