Dell debuts Vostro All In One desktop

Dell's business-minded Vostro line of PCs may already seem like it was overflowing with options, but there's been one fairly significant gap that Dell has now finally filled by rolling out its first all-in-one Vostro desktop. As you can imagine, this one is a slightly squarer version of the company's Studio One 19 home PC, with it packing a 19-inch display, and a range of fairly standard configuration options, including Core 2 Duo or Pentium dual-core processors, and 2GB of RAM and a 160GB hard drive in its base configuration. What's more, while the system packs the usual built-in kickstand, it can also be used with an optional VESA mount to free up even more desk space, and you can of course also grab it with a wireless mouse and keyboard to further cut down on clutter. Look for this one to hit North America on August 11th, although folks in Japan and China can grab one right one for a starting price of $629.

"One reminder to folks questioning why someone would choose this over an Apple... "
You should know better than anyone that there is absolutely no point in reasoning with Apple fans. They are what they are. Save your fingers the needless strain.
I still have to try :)

"I'd like to know a single person here who has replaced their keyboard more than their monitor."
Ok...here I am.
At first I had a basic 101-key kayboard that I was totally satisfied with, then I switched to a newer one that had better tactile feedback. Then I switched to a Japanese keyboard because I was enrolled in Japanese language classes and was typing in Japanese quite frequently. Then I switch to a new keyboard with multimedia control buttons and a Audio/IO jacks and an integrated USB hub. THEN I changed monitors for a 19" crt to a wide screen 19" FP.
Then there was my OTHER desktop machine. It had a 17" crt, started out with yet another non-descript 101-key keyboard. It then inherited the Japanese keyboard from the other machine. Then it got a new USB 101-key key board that worked with the new KVM I added. Then I switched to a wireless KB for that system. THEN I changed the monitor to a 17" FP.
Now I realize that's probably not the typical usage pattern, but you asked for a single person...there you go.
Why would I get this when I have the option of getting the iMac? It has an aluminum and edge to edge glass body and comes preloaded with the award winning OSX Leopard.
You wouldn't get it even if it could fly and solve the energy crisis.
HP makes Pc's that can be attached to the monitor. We have several of these. Solves both problems. To replace The monitor you take the pc off and then put it on the new monitor.
There are those of us who dont want to buy macs thats why.
Still dont get why they cant make one with a monitor bigger then 19"
They do. It's called the XPS One and it has a 24" screen.
Kudos to Dell, this looks decent.
I saw it at best buy last week.
Would that make Apple a trend setter? Not saying they're the first to do all-in-ones but it seems Asus and such are manufacturing these all-in-ones all-of-the-sudden.

I'm sure all the engineers who program micro-controllers will be glad to hear this. It was always a pain trying to order computers that had serial ports for the projects they were working on. Most of them used well outdated machines just because they needed the serial communications.
