White PSP Assassin's Creed Bloodlines bundle to sell for $199
Did anyone else think that Sony would have finally killed off the UMD movie for real by now? Guess again, suckers. The company just spilled some more details on that Assassin's Creed: Bloodlines PSP Entertainment Pack, and in addition to that sexy white PSP-3000 and 2GB Memory Stick PRO Duo, your $199 will get you an as-yet-unnamed feature film on UMD. Yes, even as Sony tip-toes into the future with the PSPgo, it's still trying to peddle movies on a garbage proprietary format no one ever really wanted and that most studios have stopped supporting. Old habits die hard, we suppose. Video after the break.

Too bad the controls still suck.
Dear Engadget, why so much hate for Sony?
I wonder what the hell Sony is trying to pull by splitting the damn Playstation Portable series like this. Very soon, there'll be a third variant which sports a touch screen, etc.
and cost $350
finally white psp on US!!! and i thought getting a japanese one was the only way ^_^
Just come out with a version with 2 analogs already.
Whoever shopped that pic forgot to cut out the little hole for a wrist strap
It's on the left side
Yeah the white background inside the loop does stand out quite a bit doesn't it? :P
HAHAHAH and there are still people out there wondering why SONY is hemmorhaging money. Its completely stupid decisions like this one. First off why relase a white PSP like its something special when SONY has been showing off white PSPgo's at its press releases. @nd as stated noone wants any stupid UMD movie especially when SONY themselves said that UMDless was the way that had always intended to go. So why release any media on a format that you yourselves are hoping to see gone, cuz everybody else already beat you to the punch SONY. I almost get upset every time i read another stupid article detailing another EPIC FAIL move by SONY in the hopes of trying to make money off of nothing at all. Then i realize its not my company so why should i care. I guess its cuz ive grown up with SONY through the years. SONY has always been a welcome guest in my house, but now its starting to act like a washed up actor promoting its new reality TV series on a noname cable network yet prancing around like an A-lister. This is not the PS2, you are not making the same smart moves you did then, and by doing more of the same you will only get the same thing in return, FAILURE.
this doesn't make sense
this really shows their corporate structure is in disarray.
Their "corporate structure" is in disarray?
What in the flipping hell? You can tell a company's "corporate structure" by the sale of a single special edition product?
Can you do Microsoft next, preferably using a specialized build of WinMo 7? I'd love to know their "corporate structure" too, thanks.
UMD, Eff that... I think they need to destroy that idea and create mini blu ray disks instead... Dual Analog sticks would be nice too so, +1 @ oghowie
"garbage proprietary format"? How is this any different than DS have a proprietary cart? Get off your high horse. The UMD was for holding 1.5gb games back when flash media was more expensive. It was logical to distribute video on the same format. The ignorance is thick here.
it's not logical to ask people to pay for the same price or more on UMD which they can only watch on psp while DVD is cheaper and they can easily convert that to avc mp4 to watch on psp with mspd, some BD comes with digital copy of the movie these days
@htd
I agree, but they stopped selling movies on UMD long ago. If it just happens to be packaged with the console, I don't see what the big issue is.
We can argue price point. That is a valid argument. But to dog UMD video discs simply because it only works on the PSP seems juvenile at best.
@iphwne
I agree. UMD, which is essentially small-sized DVD, was simply necessary at the time of release. Flash storage was expensive and downloadable content was unfeasible at that time.
@htd
No one is asking anyone to buy movies on UMD. You said it yourself. PSP owners with a computer and half a brain are free to convert their movie collection to PSP-friendly format.
1==1 @ iphwne.
Heard that you need this game, Altair's Chronicles, to find a connection to how Ezio was born in Assasin's Creed II. BTW, I pre ordered it!
Where is my Resistance Retribution bundle?! That game rocks!
I agree with you 1,000%. Great game and had a lot of fun with it.
Wake me up when I can put CFW on the PSP-3000/PSPgo.
Until then, I will stick with my PSP-2000.
What make sens for the japaneses companies and officials often doesn't for us citizen. Look at the Jp Prime Minister, a study just showed he's at the lowest popularity ever and the day after, he go start elections. Suicidal.
I can't decide if I should get a PSP 3000 or a PSP Go when it comes out... what do you guys think? I know everyone hates the UMDs, but I don't have a problem with them. I'm leaning towards the 3000 'cause I think the Go is kind of ugly...
Yet, I'd say buy the PSP-3000
You'll be able to buy UMD games and download games. Best of both worlds, cheaper, and in your opinion better design.
But in the future, I'd say the PSP Go will get all the support: apps, accessories, etc... so, time will tell, but the Go could be a nice investment too.
(I own a 3000, it kicks ass, especially if you already own a PS3 and use remote play)
@ Bokal
Just wondering, does the PSP-3000 crappy interlacing that noticeable? I still have my 1000 gold and thinking of upgrading to either to 2000 or 3000. For sure NOT PSPGo. Waste of money.
@joseph
from the way i see it, the PSPgo is the same as the PSP without the UMD and barely upped cpu... id get the psp and keep the cash for games. PSPgo games can be downloaded to PSP also im sure.
