Verizon drops BlackBerry Storm price to $99.99 on contract
With all signs (and by "all," we mean "all") pointing to a new Storm joining Verizon Wireless' lineup in the not-too-distant future, it's just about the perfect time to start discounting the current model in hopes of working that inventory down before the inevitable launch of numero dos. Starting today, VZW customers can snap up the SurePress-equipped Storm 9530 for $99.99 on contract, which is a full Benjamin less than it has been since debuting last November. If you're looking for a word of advice on the situation, here's ours: hold out for the next revision -- you'll thank us later.

I'm guessing you bought a Storm last week..
I don't know what ever gave you that idea... but I would never have the smoldering pile of shit in my pocket.
The Storm was Horrible compared to other Smart Phones on the Market. It was RIM's attempt to catch up with the iPhone. This is in no way comparable with the iPhone the Palm Pre or the G1
no wonder they drop price no one want's it :(
Nobody wants this anymore. If you're gonna sign with verizon... the only bright side to getting this is that it's not an LG....
The hate for the Storm is strong at Engadget. I have one and I have a lot of complaints about its speed and reliability but I still like it over the G1, Pre, and iPhone. Of course the Pre and iPhone are faster and have a much better browser experience they can't hold up to the build quality of the Storm (Pre), its ruggedness (Pre and Iphone), its network (Pre and Iphone), its multitasking (iphone), its opening for application (iphone), ect.
I think the Tour is probably a better device and I prefer it over the Storm but that is my personal preference.
I think all cell phone companies on a whole are way to willing to release buggy software and inadequate hardware. I work in the automotive industry, we define the term high reliability software. Automotive technology is a model of affordability, reliability, performance, and longevity that the technology market should strive for.
you can't compare a computer that controls wind shield wipers to an advanced phone...sorry...
verizon is the best wireless service hands down there has been many articles about it so lets stop that already, the storm is a great device especially with .151 its great. The guy who said he doesn't know how to use the video you sir are dumb I guess thats why they call it a smartphone.
I also Setup bberrys @ work and have a special dislike/ hatred for these storms. Clients come back to me wanting me to fix lockups and horribly planned functionality?
I have sent out a memo in my company that makes it plain that if you purchase this POS you are on your own.
In comparison Pre's, older bberrys, and iPhones are a snap and pretty easy to explain and setup. There is a solid foundation for the hatred of this device STAY CLEAR you've been warned. FYI I read somewhere where the US congress IT dept. Returned hundreds of these things due to customer complaints.
After the awful struggle trying to enter an 8-digit WPA passcode into a neighbors iPod virtual keyboard with my spatulate index finger yesterday I think there might be something to be said about the SurePress screen of the Storm.
I'm sorry but any smartphone without WIFI ought to be called Stoneage, not Storm! :) Who the heck would buy this when you can get an iPhone for the same price!
Get the Tour and stfu about the storm.
Rim Jobs.
Get an iPhone 3G instead, the best $99 you've ever spent.
Althought it seems quite obvious that VZW is trying to clear out their Storm Stock ( BOGO, now price drop) I'm still way stocked about the Storm 2...Even though i'm going to wait about a week and a half to actually buy one. Just in case.
My thoughts are that VZW already the Storm 2 ready to ship and their just trying clear out the Storm... Supposedly their staff has already been trained for Tech. Support so...
With that said they probably won't offer any special upgrade price for Storm owners.
Still not worth it. I'm on my second Storm, which is still giving me problems. I'm praying RIM offers all of us Storm suckers...I mean, users some type of rebate to trade up for the next one.
Nice
