XPERIA X2 appears next to his sibling in a charming family photo

As you know, compelling pics of the X2 have been making the scene for quite some time now, and thanks to the gang at Mobile Bulgaria we can add a few more to the collection. Held up next to its predecessor for comparison, the newer model does indeed look like its more of the same, but for what looks like an improved keyboard (can't wait to put it through its paces) and a thinner form factor -- although the most exciting changes are taking place under the hood. Unless, of course, the rumored OLED display comes to pass -- that would be most excellent! Hit that read link to see the newest pics in all their glory.

Keyboard went worse. boo............
Yep, it seems as though they gave it touch pro 1 keys... my only question is- why?
This thing better have some kind of crazy system specs. Oh well there is always the X3 with android.
But the TouchPro1 keyboard was great, in fact most users/reviewers championed it as better than the X1. The X1 keyboard has a better, more natural layout, but the TP1 had 5 rows and didn't feel all mushy like the X1.
Yeah, the only way they could have made the x2's keyboard look worse in comparison, would be rubbing feces on it.
........Not just the keyboard, the whole damn thing looks worse. I would have guessed the previous model was the next model if i didnt know already.
Even worse, the X2 isn't going to compete against the Touch Pro, it'll be the Touch Pro 2 and its nice, big raised keyboard keys.
is anyone buying these Xperia phones???
Not in the US. Wouldn't make sense buying it here. But outside US, sure. Hong Kong loved it until the N97 came along, and it was going for about $300-400US on contract.
They're free in Australia on a $69 contract, which to you yanks would be around $55 a month for 24 months.
Hell yeah, they're awesome.
"NOTE: It's a PROTOTYPE, unit nr.2. So HW and SW will likely change! So discussion about optical joystick, speaker and so on has no meaning right now. It may change or something may be even disabled or even omited (like accelerometer on X1 which beta had)"

Of all the smartphones in the market right now, I find the v1 by far the worst in its design. Long, broad, clunky - looks like a brick. Looks as if it is designed to crack open someones skull or something...
so yeah, the v2 is better than v1, but still looks horrible.
It'll probably come out way after the Touch Pro 2 becomes commonplace and B7610 Omnia Pro comes out, so if it wants to be "ultimatephone" then it needs to be better. With no tilt, it needs even more other features. The 8.1MP camera is (barely) a start, but I don't think it'll be compelling without an OLED screen.
Hey, what about the third sibling, the X3?
I can't imagine that the keyboard will look that color, but it would be nice if it got released soon in the US!
anyone know how big the X2's display is supposed to be? it looks like it could be a hair larger, maybe 3.2". or it could just look like it because the display is less recessed.
tab button....really, sony? scrap the useless button and give everyone more size!
The keyboard looks like the old Psion device keyboards, which were really nice to type on
the one to the right looks really good to type on, anyone wanna trade my shitty iphone for it?(im being serious)
Oh no no no! In the video on the link, the screen of the phone showed it has the same old Qualcomm 528mhz chip, which is slow and outdated. For goodness sakes Sony Ericsson what the hell. Get with the times. Either Tegra or Snapdragon for a phone like this. Pisses me off. FAIL
It is after all only a prototype. Things might change.
X2? Shit i never even saw the X1 in anyone's hand.
I think that is because it was never picked up by carriers to get subsidized... No one wants to put down $900 for a phone.
I think BoingBoing got it right back then:

(X1:)
Everyone I know who owns it can't really reccomend it.
The weight of the thing alone.. Like lugging around a miniature lump of iron in your pocket.
X2 wont be any lighter I assume.
Do like the x1 keypad.
a mini lump of iron? its not that heavy, and I do actually own one.
it feels more sturdy and well built than any other device I've ever owned.
it is also the best looking phone I've ever had.
hahahahahahaha someone got owned in XDA forums hehehe awesome pics. Although i have to admit that i like more the old Xperia :-/ it doesn't look like a flagship phone to me. Perhaps it will have very good software and hardware but it misses the SEXiness
