Casio EX-H10 point-and-shoot (and its superzoom pedigree) get reviewed
We covered this cam's full spec last month, but to refresh your memory, the major attractions are its 720/24p video recording and 10x optical zoom. In fact, the Photography Blog crew, who have a review unit sprawled on their test bench, reckon the H10 is both the thinnest and lightest shooter to ever pack that kind of zooming prowess. They've compared it to the Panasonic DMC-TZ7, their reigning champ in the compact superzoom category, and -- well, you'll have to read the review to find out. The impressions we can share with you include excellent battery life and a useful Anti-Shake system on the upside, but also noise issues at relatively low ISO speeds and only average image quality on the downslope. Still, hit up the read link for a full rundown -- trust us, it's worth it for the cliffhanger ending.

A lot of camera articles on the front page today. Is there some camera conference going on or something?
Yes it's called a technology blog.
Or yes, it is called Summer Season. ;-)
At least its not a cell phone article. I swear they are more like advertisements then articles they show up so much.
Hmm...I sure hope my camera has a "take BS shot" button...
somebody in the designing team obviously overlooked that!
Button specialises in blurry facebook shots so nobody can actually make out one's face
And it doesn't stack up against the TZ5/SZ3 from Panasonic...if only I can find a ZS3 for purchase.
amazon has had it in stock for months
Actually I've had it on backorder from Amazon for a month now, it now says it will ship in the First to Third week of August. They've been at "2-3 months" for a long time.
I originally ordered it from buy.com back in April, they canceled the order in mid June citing that their supplier is no longer carrying the item.
The zoom is so super it can take pictures of itself.
They write 24p whenever the CPU doesn't support 30p recording but PR has nothing else to boast with.
24p = fail. It records static picture just fine but we make videos because its not a static picture. You need 60 fps for sport events, 30 should do the job in most cases.
Noise at relatively low ISO speeds in a compact point-and-shoot? NO WAY!!!!
This is always a problem with people.
Should you want decent picture get a Leaf.
If you want happy snapping take an EXLIM.
That's all.
I was wondering if a review of this model would come out before I picked up a new camera. I somehow had my doubts about the Casio brand.
Extensive research led me to the Panasonic TZ6 / ZS1, which I picked up an hour ago. I can say I don't regret the purchase, and the review above confirms it.
Of course, that means tomorrow Panasonic will release the successor... so is technology life :D
anybody notice the BS icon? say you're in a photography class and you had to work on an assignment. I guess that button would do wonders ;)
It also has an A.S.S.
(Anti Shake System)
:)
Not bad...
bah, casio's image quality is very poor
I have the ZS3. I doubt this Casio can top it. I love the ZS3.
Just got the EX-H10 last week. So far it's great. I'm looking forward to seeing how it does for vacation next weekend. I'm no camera expert but we had one of the 3x zoom 6 mp exilm that we got about three years ago and it was great (still is actually) - we took it on our honeymoon to Ireland and it took wonderful pictures - we were able to blow some up and frame them and the quality is amazing. Not sure how people say they casio quality sucks - must not know how to use it!! =) Anyway - when we were looking for a higher zoom we found this online. We had to wait to get it because it wasn't released in the US yet. Very excited to have it and it's so much like our other one that we don't have to learn how to use it all over again. AND much smaller than other higher zoom cameras! Hope everyone finds the perfect camera for them - I think we did!! =)
