Engadget HD puts the new Samsung LED edge-lit LCD TV to the test

If you've been wondering how the latest LED edge-lit LED TVs from Samsung look, now's your chance to find out. The crew over at EHD got their hands-on the 46-inch UN46B7000 and spent the time to write all about it. We'd like to warn you that If you don't click through you'll be missing out on all the fun, like all the internet connectivity features like DLNA and Yahoo Widgets. But even if you don't care about all the extras, there is still come great information that'll help try and figure out how much of a premium a 1.2 inch TV is worth.

That looks really pretty. Dare I say, sexy.
Yes, "come great" sexy, in fact.
Absolutely gorgeous. Can't wait to play Pac Man on it.
Forget PacMan bring on Pong!
Picture 19: The chair's back legs are floating.
Also, oddly funny caption on #5.
I can't click through if there's no read link!
2.1 inch TV? What?
Yeah, I blinked on that too.
They're talking about the thickness. Or, if you read the review, how "think" it is.
Yea funny how they messed up two things at the same place.
@CityZen
Thanks, that part had me totally confused. Why would someone pay a premium for a 2.1 inch TV?
LED edge-lit LED TV?
2.1 inch tv.. woah.. cant wait to hook up my ps3 to that and play fallout!
Am I blind or is there no link?

There's the link to the review.
Nice editing on this post. Very impressive.
i had this tv but on dark scenes in a dark room u can see like a backlight in the tv. i googled it and i guess it's the led backlight that i saw, it got really annoying so i took it back and got a 55" lcd instead... besides the light, I really miss the picture quality.
Picture quality is for Plasma. LCD is great and all, but I find plasma just plain looks better. As long as you know how to place/use one...
need to get me one of those !!!
I got one of these two months ago. Abso-friggin-lutely beautiful.
The picture often has a three dimensional look to it with a 1080p signal. And it does a more-than-respectable job upscaling non-HD signals.
This thing is the bees knees. I'm still often in awe when I watch it.
You said it supports MKVs...... does that mean I can plug in an External HDD and it can run movies off it? I'm trying to find what other format of movie files it can support, but so far, my google searches are horrendous.
I want to see a review of the 8 Series 240hz TV. I can't seem to find a good review of it anywhere.
I will get one eventually. Check out www.superthintv.com
Love that huge bezel.....
For 1 month, I compared Samsung's LED sets to their B750 series (which CNET called the best non-LED LCD TV ever). In every shop I went to, each example I saw of the LED sets, regardless of series (6000, 7000, and 8000) had a magenta/pink cast to the entire image. It is especially notable in black and white images. It does not go away by turning off "vivid" mode (the default setting for demos). Nor could I get rid of it by playing with the advanced color settings.
I went with the LN46B750 and have been very happy with it.
The tv is actually 1.2 inches thick, not 2.1.
Samsung’s 7000 Series LED HDTV line-up boasts high dynamic contrast ratios, complements of the ground breaking LED light source. It also incorporates a number of innovative features to reduce the motion blur and image judder, which traditionally plague LCD HDTVs when displaying fast movement. The Auto Motion Plus frame interpolation technology utilizes a 120Hz refresh rate helps ensure crisp, easy viewing of sports, video games and movies.
The 7000 Series also includes access to Samsung’s InfoLink RSS service, which can instantly display updated news, sports, weather and stocks information with a touch of the remote. And this HDTV is accented by Samsung’s TOC (Touch of Color), which offers a hint of a translucent color around the edges of the unit for a uniquely fashionable look.

This part in the headline i was looking for: to the test
Can anybody tell me where i can find the test??? Any information about power consumption?
Nice photos anyway
What bugs me is these super thin TVs are still quite heavy (going off the specs on official samsung/panasonic website)- I need something thin *and* light to hang on my apartments paper-thin walls!
I'd just like to know if anyone has actually bought a Samsung LED TV. I have a choice to make between an LED TV and a Laser TV, but I want to know what an actual owner of each thinks.
Can anyone let me know, thanks..
