Motorola's MOTODEV "accelerates" Android development; isn't a phone
We can't fault Motorola for trying to get some developer tools out in the hands of Joe the App Developer before the company launches its own Android phone, but you'd think it would at least announce a handset before getting all dev tool happy. Motorola is now offering a beta version of its MOTODEV Studio for Android, a development environment that works alongside Google's existing SDK, along with the new MOTODEV App Accelerator Program which gives devs early access to tools and better exposure for their apps. It all sounds fine and dandy, but "later this year" isn't much to go on as far as an actual Motorola device to target. Come, Morrison, save us from this madness.

Someone give me an Android phone with a touch screen running Tegra and I will buy it right now. Please.
It is pretty funny when people list what type of processor the phones should have. Do you really think they phone will be better with Tegra than with an OMAP3450 from TI? How about with a U8500 from ST-Ericsson? Do you have any clue?
I want a snapdragon powered, 5mp camera, 8gig storage, AMOLED screen with a sliding out keyboard Android smartphone.
YES! I totally agree with you Agenteyser!, fast processor (I'll take either Snapdragon or Tegra just gimme something in the gHz range), OLED screen (those things look amazing), a good camera, user expandable memory, user replaceable battery, Bluetooth and Wifi, standard ports (like mini or micro USB and 3.5mm headphone) and you didnt mention this but i would like one a slide out full qwerty keyboard. Oh and lets not forget a good antennae design because well, hell you might actually want to make phone calls........
If anyone made it, it would be $1000, and you wouldn't buy it.
Ziiing!!! The Truth CtrlBurns doesn't it
+1
Tegra is not in the Ghz range. It uses two ARM11 cores running at 600Mhz.
If moto follows stupid HTC and gives us that OLD OLD OLD 528MHZ qualcomm....
BURN
I'd be more wary if they followed the HTC trend of building their own UI over top of the default one. In my experience, Motorola phones have had the worst UI, bar none, of any cellphone I've used.
I wish the Android mascot was more like Songbird's mascot, always farting.
lol
something about the mascot celebrating its acquiring of a screwdriver and wrench amuses me.
carpe diem, my friend.. carpe diem
Looks like Legend of Zelda!
"You got a MOTODEV!"
Da-da-da-DAAAAH!
A crown of failure is being specifically crafted for Motorola's head as we speak. Back in 2004, they were innovative. At the moment, the real world is 4 months away from 2010. Moto-time, though, is still 90 days from 2008. At best. Somebody should buy these guys a calender featuring a different cool phone for every month, and wait for Moto to realize they were never even asked to do a photo shoot. I mean, fuck - the amount of words the Eskimo got for snow < the amount of words Moto got for failure.
Don't get me wrong, I used to love me some StarTac - but now, I'm just surprised Motorola hasn't bought a body bag for every person they pay.
P.S. - and if they run with that blue lagoon keyboard on the Morrison, it will confirm to me that the company has an extra chromosome.
While I'm a bit (only a bit) amused by the spite, you seem to compensate motorola on the count of it not getting any flattery / citation ;-)
The whole thing about bad publicity (as any celebrity will tell you), is that it is better than no publicity! Your requiem for motorola will only get it more google points! Not that I mind.
Looks like the Android is trying to become the Swedish Chef... I just hope it doesn't get it's hand on any cooking utensils or we're all doomed.
