Video: RunCore's 1.8-inch Pro IV SSD line priced and tested
RunCore just got finished introducing its 2.5-inch Pro IV SSD family back in May, and already it's looking to expand its reach with a new line of solid state drives in the 1.8-inch form factor. These ultra-small devices were taken for a spin by the fine folks over at TweakTown, and while the real world difference compared to an HDD was certainly evident in the side-by-side comparison (shown after the break), it's the benchmarks that really had us smiling. In testing, the 128GB model managed to notch a 224MBps read and 136MBps write rate, and while both figures are more than respectable, the lofty MSRPs have us thinking twice about just how badly we flash in our lives. If all goes well, the crew will hit shops next month for $179.99 (32GB), $289.99 (64GB), $499.99 (128GB) and $899.99 (256GB), and if our wildest dreams come true, they'll be slipped into unreasonably expensive portable media players shortly after.

Just wandering if anyone has commented on this? Am I first?
This is possibly the most useless comment I have ever seen
You're "wandering"? Wandering where? Back to school perhaps?
Back to school, hopefully. (nice try at "first")
I like to think I flash really well.
I flash badly in my life.
Just so the hilarity isn't lost on anyone post-edit...
"...the lofty MSRPs have us thinking twice about just how badly we flash in our lives."
Let's see how well you flash against....THE RANCORE!!!! ERRR...RUNCORE!!
I just want cheap 256GB ssd anything above is a bonus. Once 256GB ssds come down in price to a reasonable price of about £100 I'll jump. But until then I'm not biting.
It should be noted from personal experience that Runcore drives tend to fail far too often
The loading time of the bios has nothing to do whit the hard drive, yet the right laptop shows the bois loading screen 2 seconds later than the laptop on the left.
The only thing RuneCore did nice was those little pci-e SSDs for Dell Mini9, especially when other manufactures were making terrible ones. Once SuperTalent start to ship their good SSDs for Dell Mini9, I do not see any valid reason to buy from RuneCore any more.
Super Talent has nothing that even gets close to these things in those form factors and they have one for the Mini 9 it is at least 10 times faster than the Super Talent and 6 times faster than the last Runcore version.
I had one of their Pocket Fisherman, and a Rinestone and Stud Setter. I always wanted an Inside the Egg Shell Egg Scrambler but they were not available in stores.
Congrats RunCore, MyHPMini.com
Beware of RunCore 1.8" SSD's. I went through four before I was sent one that actually worked...six months after the order was initially placed. There's a thread at myhpmini.com documenting the hell of dealing with RunCore's laughably poor quality assurance. http://myhpmini.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=163
The new 1.8" is 100% perfect Nicol from www.Netbooksnews.com saw it installed in HangZhou China. It was installed in a Sony P, HP Mini, Viliv, Sony UX and one other one I forget the others Nicol reported.
Yes and JKKMobile.com also tested the original RunCore 1.8" SSD's, too. Of course the version he got was substantially different from the retail version in design and performance...not to mention it actually, ya know, worked. RunCore never explained how his test version worked so well and no one else's did, nor did they explain the loss of an integrated MicroUSB jack in the second production run. (Instead they included a cheap mini-usb enclosure in the package.) I definitely recommend waiting on purchasing these until a bunch have been installed and tested.
